(Caracas, January 7, 2025) – Minister of Science and Technology Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez reported this Wednesday that the criminal and multidimensional attacks perpetrated by the United States against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela destroyed five research centers of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC).

The minister, who also serves as Vice President for Science, Technology, Ecosocialism, and Health, specified that the affected centers are those for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Ecology, and the Nuclear Technology Unit.

She noted that these facilities are essential for the education of young students at the Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán National University of Sciences.

"The attack was total: these areas housed servers and equipment essential to our computer networks, which were completely devastated," she added.

In this regard, she reported that the IVIC (Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research) was struck by two missiles, "leaving fragments that demonstrate imperial hatred against Venezuela's sovereign technological development."

Minister Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez recalled that these facilities, now destroyed by the bombings, have served for decades "to train the professionals who sustain our health, engineering, and oil sovereignty."

"This is an unprecedented act of imperial aggression against the people of Venezuela, in which the civil and scientific infrastructure of our nation has been attacked. There is no justification whatsoever for attacking a sanctuary of science, a place that has provided historic answers to the country and the world," stated Minister Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez.

She also denounced that this "escalation of the war" not only affected the laboratories, "but has gone so far as to kidnap our Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and the First Lady, Dr. Cilia Flores, in a desperate attempt to break the will of the nation."

Faced with this situation, the minister expressed her absolute rejection of the violence and paid tribute to those who fell victim to this imperial aggression, for their commitment to the struggle for sovereignty.

"The sense of belonging to our IVIC is unwavering. This institute has been a temple for the development of the country, and we will not allow it to be silenced. I convey the indignation of our entire scientific community; our institutions are sacred," stated Minister Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez.

She announced that, following the directives of the Acting President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, the reconstruction of the destroyed facilities will begin immediately.

“IVIC will continue to be an epicenter for the generation of new knowledge and the scientific culture of the nation. We will prevail!” he emphasized.

Details of the Investigation

In the audiovisual material, Dr. Alberto Quintero, Vice Minister of Application of Scientific Knowledge of the Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology and Director of IVIC, provided details of the investigation that began within the research center.

Quintero explained that, according to the investigation, the missile used to bomb IVIC “is an AGM-154C-1, a precision glide guided bomb over four meters long, designed with infrared technology and a data link to attack moving targets, such as ships or constellation defenses.”

He also stated that evidence was found of “the use of strategic bombers capable of neutralizing radar systems with stealth technology.”

In response to this situation, Vice Minister Alberto Quintero urged the national and international scientific community to reject this type of aggression, which threatens the peace of nations.

"Attacking the population, promoting war, and attacking civilian and military installations and scientific research centers, disturbing a people who were sleeping peacefully, are nothing more than terrorist acts and crimes against humanity," he stated, while also rejecting the use of knowledge, science, and technology as weapons of war that destroy communities.

(Caracas, 07 de enero de 2025).- La ministra para Ciencia y Tecnología, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, informó este miércoles que los ataques criminales y multidimensionales perpetrados por Estados Unidos (EE.UU.) contra la República Bolivariana de Venezuela destruyeron cinco centros de investigación del Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Científicas (IVIC).



La ministra y también vicepresidenta sectorial de Ciencia, Tecnología, Ecosocialismo y Salud detalló que los centros afectados son los de Matemática, Física, Química, Ecología y la Unidad de Tecnología Nuclear.



Recordó que estos espacios son esenciales para el aprendizaje de los jóvenes estudiantes que hacen vida en la Universidad Nacional de las Ciencias Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán.



«El ataque ha sido total: estas zonas albergaban servidores y equipos esenciales para nuestras redes computacionales que fueron completamente devastados», añadió.



En este sentido, informó que el IVIC fue impactado por dos misiles «dejando fragmentos que evidencian el odio imperial contra el desarrollo tecnológico soberano de Venezuela».



La ministra Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez recordó que estos espacios que hoy se encuentran destruidos por los bombardeos, han servido durante décadas, «para formar a los profesionales que sostienen nuestra salud, ingeniería y soberanía petrolera».



«Es un acto de agresión imperial sin precedentes contra el pueblo de Venezuela, en la que se ha atacado la infraestructura civil y científica de nuestra patria. No existe justificación alguna para agredir un santuario de la ciencia, un recinto que ha dado respuestas históricas al país y al mundo», afirmó la ministra Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez.



Asimismo, denunció que esta «escalada de la guerra», no solo afectó los laboratorios, «sino que ha llegado al extremo del secuestro de nuestro Presidente Constitucional de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela Nicolás Maduro Moros y de la Primera Combatiente Dra. Cilia Flores, en un intento desesperado por quebrar la voluntad de la nación».



Ante esta situación, la ministra expresó su rechazo absoluta a la violencia y rindió un reconocimiento a los caídos por esta agresión imperial, por su compromiso en la lucha por la soberanía.



«El sentimiento de pertenencia hacia nuestro IVIC es inquebrantable. Este instituto ha sido un templo para el desarrollo del país y no permitiremos que sea silenciado. Transmito la indignación de toda nuestra comunidad científica; nuestras instituciones son sagradas», indicó la ministra Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez.



Anunció que, siguiendo las orientaciones de la Presidenta Encargada de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, se iniciará de manera inmediata la reconstrucción de los espacios destruidos.



«El IVIC seguirá siendo un epicentro para la generación de nuevos conocimientos y la cultura científica de la patria ¡Nosotros venceremos!», puntualizó.



Detalles de la investigación



En el material audiovisual, el Dr. Alberto Quintero, viceministro de Aplicación del Conocimiento Científico del Ministerio del Poder Popular de Ciencia y Tecnología y director del IVIC, dio detalles de la investigación que se comenzó dentro del centro de investigación.



Quintero explicó que de acuerdo con la investigación, el misil con el que fue bombardeado el IVIC «es del tipo AGM-154C-1, una bomba guiada de planeo de precisión de más de cuatro metros de largo, diseñada con tecnología infrarroja y enlace de datos para atacar objetivos en movimiento, como buques o defensas consteladas».



De igual forma, dijo, se evidenció «la utilización de aviones de bombardeo estratégicos capaces de neutralizar sistemas de radar con tecnología de sigilo».



Ante esta situación, el viceministro Alberto Quintero exhortó a la comunidad científica nacional e internacional a rechazar este tipo de agresión que atenta contra la paz de los pueblos.



«Agredir a la población, promover la guerra y atacar instalaciones civiles, militares y centros de investigación científica, perturbando a un pueblo que dormía en paz, no son más que actos terroristas y crímenes de lesa humanidad», puntualizó al tiempo que rechazó el uso del conocimiento, la ciencia y la tecnología como herramientas de guerra que destruyen comunidades.
