The Palestinian Football Association announced today, Wednesday, the martyrdom of the national team star and veteran scorer for the Khadamat Al-Shati Club, Suleiman Al-Obeid, during the ongoing war of extermination in Gaza.

Al-Obeid is one of the most prominent veteran players in the Gaza Strip, having played for several clubs, most notably Khadamat Al-Shati. He also had a successful professional career in the West Bank Professional League, playing for the Palestinian Al-Amari club.

Al-Obeid, born in 1984, previously represented the Palestinian national team and the beach soccer team, scoring his first international goal for Palestine against Yemen during the 2010 West Asian Football Federation Championship.

He also captained the Palestinian national team during the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers and the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The Palestinian sports community has lost a large number of its leaders and stars, including martyrs, wounded, and prisoners. Hundreds of its facilities and installations have been destroyed in flagrant violation of all Olympic and international laws and conventions.

According to data from the Palestinian Football Association, the Israeli war of extermination resulted in the martyrdom of 762 athletes, coaches, and administrators, including 422 football players, coaches, referees, and administrators. These included 137 children and 397 youth, compared to 266 from other sports federations.

Regarding sports facilities, the Israeli occupation destroyed 267 facilities, including stadiums, training halls, club headquarters, and federation facilities.

أعلن الاتحاد الفلسطيني لكرة القدم، اليوم الأربعاء، عن استشهاد نجم المنتخب الوطني و الهداف التاريخي لنادي خدمات الشاطئ المخضرم “سليمان العبيد”، خلال حرب الإبادة المستمرة على غزة.

ويعد العبيد من أبرز اللاعبين المخضرمين، في قطاع غزة، ولعب لعدة أندية أبرزها خدمات الشاطئ، كما خاض رحلة احتراف ناجحة بدوري المحترفين لأندية الضفة بقميص الأمعري الفلسطيني.


وسبق لـ العبيد مواليد 1984  تمثيل المنتخب الوطني الفلسطيني الأول، وكذلك منتخب الشاطئية، اذ سجل أول أهدافه الدولية مع فلسطين ضد اليمن خلال بطولة اتحاد غرب آسيا لكرة القدم 2010.

كما قاد المنتخب الوطني الفلسطيني خلال تصفيات كأس التحدي الآسيوي 2012 وتصفيات كأس العالم 2014.

وفقدت الأسرة الرياضية في فلسطين، عدد كبير من قادتها ونجومها، ما بين شهيد ومصاب وأسير، فيما دُمرت المئات من منشآتها ومرافقها في انتهاك فاضح لكافة القوانين والمواثيق الأولمبية والدولية.

وبحسب بيانات الاتحاد الفلسطيني لكرة القدم، فإن حرب الإبادة الإسرائيلية أدت إلى استشهاد 762 رياضيا ومدربا وإداريا، من بينهم 422 لاعب كرة قدم، موزعين ما بين لاعب ومدرب وحكم وإداري، بينهم 137 طفلًا، و397 شاباً، مقابل 266 من الاتحادات الرياضية الأخرى.

وعلى صعيد المنشآت الرياضية، دمّر الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، 267 منشأة تشمل ملاعب وصالات تدريب ومقرات أندية ومرافق اتحادات.
