Palestinian Territories – The Palestinian Center for Defending Journalists (PJPC) mourns the death of photojournalist Hassan al-Qishawi, who was killed today, Thursday, as a result of an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City. This is the latest in a series of ongoing Israeli crimes against Palestinian journalists in the new year.

According to the center's monitoring, an Israeli drone targeted al-Qishawi with a single missile in front of his home in Palestine Square, west of Gaza City.

Al-Qishawi, 30, worked for Gaza Media and the Indonesian INH Agency, and was one of the few journalists who continued to cover the aftermath of the Israeli war on Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip.

The center affirms that this crime constitutes a clear violation of Security Council Resolutions 2222 and 1738, which emphasize the need to protect journalists and ensure their safety during armed conflict.

The center notes that the Israeli government continues to commit serious violations of international humanitarian law, including targeting journalists and media facilities.

It stresses the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities and take decisive action to stop these violations and ensure respect for human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories. The Center also calls on the International Federation of Journalists, Reporters Without Borders, and the Federation of Arab Journalists to take immediate action to protect Palestinian journalists and enable them to carry out their work freely and independently.

With the martyrdom of Al-Qishawi, the number of Palestinian journalists killed since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has risen to 202, according to statistics from the Center for the Protection of Palestinian Journalists.

ووفقًا لمتابعة المركز، فإن طائرة مسيرة إسرائيلية استهدفت بصاروخ واحد الصحفي “القيشاوي” أمام منزله في ميدان فلسطين غرب مدينة غزة.

والصحفي “القيشاوي” (30 عاماً) كان يعمل لصالح شركة “غزة ميديا” ووكالة INH الإندونيسية، وهو واحد من الصحفيين القلائل الذين واصلوا تغطية أثار الحرب الإسرائيلية على مدينة غزة وشمال القطاع.

ويؤكد المركز أن هذه الجريمة تشكل انتهاكًا واضحًا لقراري مجلس الأمن رقم 2222 و1738، اللذين يؤكدان على ضرورة حماية الصحفيين وضمان سلامتهم خلال النزاعات المسلحة.

ويشير المركز إلى أن الحكومة الإسرائيلية تواصل ارتكاب انتهاكات جسيمة للقانون الدولي الإنساني، بما في ذلك استهداف الصحفيين والمرافق الإعلامية.

ويشدد على ضرورة أن يتحمل المجتمع الدولي مسؤولياته ويتخذ إجراءات حاسمة لوقف هذه الانتهاكات وضمان احترام حقوق الإنسان في الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة.

كما يدعو المركز الاتحاد الدولي للصحفيين، منظمة مراسلون بلا حدود، واتحاد الصحفيين العرب إلى التحرك الفوري لحماية الصحفيين الفلسطينيين وتمكينهم من أداء مهامهم بحرية واستقلالية.

وباستشهاد “القيشاوي”، يرتفع عدد الصحفيين الفلسطينيين الذين فقدوا حياتهم منذ بداية العدوان الإسرائيلي على قطاع غزة إلى 202، وفقًا لإحصاءات مركز حماية الصحفيين الفلسطينيين.
