In one of the most brutal and bloody examples of contradiction, a recreational area on Gaza City's beachfront was transformed into the scene of a new massacre, dubbed the "Al-Baqa Cafeteria Massacre." This massacre documented a major shock to the Gazan psyche: a place originally intended as a haven of respite from the pressures of war and siege was transformed in an instant into a scene of devastation and a bloody memory that will never be erased from the memory of the besieged city.

The people in the cafeteria were displaced people fleeing the ongoing bombardment, journalists seeking to document the suffering of the people, and students searching for a signal to reassure their families that they were still alive.

But the missile that targeted the place closed all doors, redefining life and death in the Gazan way: where there is no safe place and no time for a truce.

As images of blood and torn remains on the beach spread, a wave of shock and deep sadness swept social media. Thousands of activists and bloggers reacted to this horrific crime, questioning the magnitude of the contradiction between two words that cannot be combined in the same place: "massacre" and "cafeteria."

One blogger said: "Consider the magnitude of the contradiction between the two words: 'massacre' and 'cafeteria.' Who would have imagined that a cafeteria, originally intended for entertainment and enjoyment off the beach, would one day turn into a pool of human blood, with torn remains swimming in it?"

Another activist wrote: "The Al-Baqaa Cafeteria was not just a rest stop; it was a safe haven, our only outlet where we could gather as if it were our home. Unfortunately, this place has been transformed into a slaughterhouse, a graveyard, and a place of mass death."

Another added: "In Gaza, even the beach is no longer safe; even the sea has become a place of death."

The sand and the sea are witnesses to the tragedy.
Others considered that on the beach, where families flee from death for a breath of life, the occupation committed a full-fledged massacre. One blogger said: "The sand was laughing under the children's feet, and the water healed their fear for a moment, then the missile came, and the rest area was filled with blood, not shells."

Another wrote: "In an instant, the gathering of family, laughter, and simple food turned into eternal silence. Bodies were scattered on the sand, mothers screaming frantically, and fathers searching for the limbs of their children among the waves."

Another blogger added: "In the rest area, there were severed, featureless bodies... Heads flew into the sea, and the waves carried their remains. A new massacre is being recorded in the memory of blood."

They emphasized that the bombing occurred without any prior warning, and the lives of those sitting there were taken away in an instant, just as dreams are killed in this stricken area, which has traditionally paid a heavy price for simply daring to live.

A medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital told Al Jazeera that 34 martyrs—most of them women and children—were killed in the Israeli bombardment, with estimates that the death toll is likely to rise due to the serious injuries.

لم يكن الجالسون في الكافتيريا سوى نازحين فرّوا من القصف المستمر، وصحفيين يسعون لتوثيق معاناة الناس، وطلاب بحثوا عن إشارة اتصال يطمئنون بها أهاليهم بأنهم ما زالوا أحياء.





لكن الصاروخ الذي استهدف المكان أغلق كل الأبواب، ليعيد تعريف الحياة والموت على الطريقة الغزية: حيث لا مكان آمنا ولا زمن للهدنة.

ومع انتشار صور الدماء والأشلاء الممزقة على الشاطئ، اجتاحت مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي موجة صدمة وحزن عميق، إذ تفاعل آلاف النشطاء والمدونين مع هذه الجريمة المروعة، متسائلين عن حجم التناقض بين كلمتين لا يمكن أن تجتمعا في مكان واحد: "مجزرة" و"كافتيريا".

وقال أحد المدونين: "لك أن تتأمل حجم التناقض بين الكلمتين: "مجزرة" و"كافتيريا". من كان يتخيل يوما أن تتحول الكافتيريا، المُعدّة أصلا للترفيه والاستمتاع قبالة شاطئ البحر، إلى بركة من دماء البشر تسبح فيها الأشلاء الممزقة؟".


وكتب أحد النشطاء: "كافتيريا الباقة لم تكن مجرد استراحة، كانت ملاذا أمانا، متنفسنا الوحيد الذي نجتمع فيه كأنها بيتنا. وللأسف، تحوّل هذا المكان إلى مسلخ ومقبرة وموت جماعي".

وأضاف آخر: "في غزة، حتى الشاطئ لم يعد آمنا، حتى البحر صار ساحة موت".

 الرمال والبحر شهود على المأساة
واعتبر آخرون أنه على شاطئ البحر، حيث تهرب العائلات من الموت إلى نسمة حياة، ارتكب الاحتلال مجزرة مكتملة الأركان. وقال أحد المدونين: "كانت الرمال تضحك تحت أقدام الأطفال، والماء يداوي الخوف للحظة، ثم جاء الصاروخ فامتلأت الاستراحة بالدم، لا بالأصداف".

وكتب آخر: "في لحظة، تحوّلت الباقة التي جمعت العائلة والضحك والطعام البسيط إلى صمت أبدي. جثث مبعثرة على الرمال، أمهات يصرخن بجنون، وآباء يبحثون عن أطراف صغارهم بين الأمواج".


وأضاف مدون آخر: "في استراحة الباقة أجساد مقطعة بلا ملامح… رؤوس طارت إلى البحر وصار الموج يحمل أشلاءهم. مجزرة جديدة تُسجل في ذاكرة الدم".


وأكدوا أن القصف وقع بلا أي إنذار مسبق، لتُزهق أرواح الجالسين في لحظة واحدة، تماما كما يُقتل الحلم في هذه البقعة المنكوبة التي اعتادت أن تدفع ثمنا باهظا لمجرد التجرؤ على الحياة.

بدوره، قال مصدر طبي بمستشفى الشفاء لقناة الجزيرة إن 34 شهيدا -معظمهم من النساء والأطفال- سقطوا في القصف الإسرائيلي، وسط تقديرات بأن الحصيلة مرشحة للارتفاع بسبب الإصابات الخطيرة.
