The Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Resistance Committees, announced on Monday the killing of one of its leaders in a clash with an Israeli special force that infiltrated the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, a day after the army announced the start of a large-scale ground operation across the Strip. In a statement, the Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades said it mourned "one of its most prominent leaders and special operations officer Ahmed Kamel Sarhan (44 years old), who bore the nom de guerre (Islam)." It explained that Sarhan was killed after "a clash, confrontation and epic battle with the Zionist special forces that infiltrated the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip." It stressed that Israel's assassination of "resistance leaders will only increase their determination to continue the path of resistance."

وقالت ألوية الناصر صلاح الدين في بيان، إنها تنعى "أحد أبرز قادتها ومسؤول العمل الخاص أحمد كامل سرحان (44 عاما)، الذي يحمل الاسم الحركي (إسلام)".

وأوضحت أن سرحان قتل بعد "اشتباك وتصد وملحمة مع القوات الصهيونية الخاصة التي تسللت إلى مدينة خان يونس جنوب القطاع".

وأكدت على أن اغتيال إسرائيل لـ"قادة المقاومة لن يزيدهم إلا إصرارا على مواصلة طريق المقاومة".
