The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip announced on Sunday that the death toll of journalists has risen to 175, following the killing of photojournalist Hassan Hamad in the Jabalia refugee camp, north of the Gaza Strip.

At dawn on Sunday, 30 Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded in a series of Israeli airstrikes on the northern Gaza Strip, the most violent since last May. Israeli military vehicles also advanced east of the town of Jabalia under heavy fire, according to medical sources and eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency.

The government office stated in a statement that "the number of journalist martyrs has risen to 175, since the beginning of the genocidal war on Gaza, after the death of photojournalist Hassan Hamad as a result of the bombing of his home in the Jabalia refugee camp, north of the Strip."

The body of journalist Hamad, who worked as a photographer for several media outlets, including Anadolu Agency, arrived at Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, consisting of body parts and the press vest he was wearing, according to an Anadolu Agency correspondent.

Through his hair, his brother, Mohammed Hamad, learned that the remains belonged to his brother Hassan.

Moments before his death, Hassan sent a video clip via a private WhatsApp group for journalists, in which he spoke about the Israeli army targeting a site near the Riyad al-Saleheen Mosque in the northern Gaza Strip.

He noted that the sounds of Israeli vehicles advancing and penetrating into the Jabalia camp were being heard, while Palestinian families continued to flee the camp as of midnight.

Hassan was known for his coverage of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since its beginning on October 7, 2023, and continued to document Israel's crimes and massacres through his camera.

Since January 15, Hassan had worked as a freelance correspondent for Anadolu Agency in northern Gaza.

Social media activists circulated a video clip posted by Hamad, just hours before his death, documenting the situation on the ground in the Jabalia camp under the ongoing Israeli bombardment.

With full American support, Israel has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 139,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing. This has also resulted in massive destruction and a famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children, creating one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.

In defiance of the international community, Israel continues its war of extermination, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate halt and the International Court of Justice's orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.

أعلن المكتب الإعلامي الحكومي بقطاع غزة، الأحد، ارتفاع عدد القتلى الصحفيين إلى 175، عقب مقتل المصور الصحفي "حسن حمد" في مخيم جباليا شمال قطاع غزة.

وفجر الأحد، قتل 30 فلسطينيا وجرح العشرات، في سلسلة غارات إسرائيلية على شمال قطاع غزة، هي الأعنف منذ مايو/ أيار الماضي، بينما توغلت آليات عسكرية إسرائيلية شرق بلدة جباليا تحت غطاء ناري مكثف، وفق مصادر طبية وشهود عيان للأناضول.

وأفاد المكتب الحكومي، في بيان بـ"ارتفاع عدد الشهداء الصحفيين إلى 175، منذ بدء حرب الإبادة الجماعية على غزة، وذلك بعد ارتقاء المصور الصحفي حسن حمد جراء قصف منزله في مخيم جباليا للاجئين الفلسطينيين شمالي القطاع".

ووصل جثمان الصحفي حمد الذي يعمل مصورًا مع عدد من وسائل الإعلام بينها وكالة الأناضول، إلى مستشفى كمال عدوان شمال قطاع غزة، عبارة عن أشلاء وسترة صحفية كان يرتديها، بحسب مراسل الأناضول.

ومن خلال شعره، علم شقيقه محمد حمد، أن الأشلاء تعود إلى أخيه حسن.

وقبل لحظات من مقتله، أرسل "حسن" مقطعاً مصوراً عبر مجموعة "واتساب" خاصة للصحفيين، كان يتحدث فيه عن استهداف الجيش الإسرائيلي موقعا عند مسجد رياض الصالحين شمال قطاع غزة.

وأشار إلى أن أصوات تقدم وتوغل الآليات الإسرائيلية تتقدم في مخيم جباليا، فيما بتواصل نزوح عائلات فلسطينية من المخيم اعتبارا من منتصف الليل.

وعرف حسن بتغطيته لحرب الإبادة الجماعية على قطاع غزة منذ بدايتها في 7 أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول 2023، واستمر في توثيق جرائم ومجازر إسرائيل عبر عدسة كاميرته.

ومنذ 15 يناير/ كانون الثاني الماضي، كان يعمل "حسن" كمراسل متعاون مع الأناضول في شمال غزة.

وتناقل نشطاء مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي مقطعًا مصورًا نشره حمد، قبل مقتله بساعاتٍ قليله، يرصد فيها صورة الأوضاع الميدانية في مخيم جباليا في ظل القصف الإسرائيلي المتواصل.

وبدعم أمريكي مطلق ترتكب إسرائيل منذ 7 أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول 2023 إبادة جماعية بقطاع غزة خلفت أكثر من 139 ألف قتيل وجريح فلسطينيين، معظمهم أطفال ونساء، وما يزيد على 10 آلاف مفقود، وسط دمار هائل ومجاعة أودت بحياة عشرات الأطفال، في إحدى أسوأ الكوارث الإنسانية بالعالم.

وفي استهانة بالمجتمع الدولي، تواصل إسرائيل حرب الإبادة متجاهلة قرار مجلس الأمن الدولي بوقفها فورا، وأوامر محكمة العدل الدولية باتخاذ تدابير لمنع أعمال الإبادة الجماعية ولتحسين الوضع الإنساني الكارثي بغزة.
