Qatar held funeral prayers on Thursday afternoon in Doha for the victims of the unprecedented Israeli attack that targeted residential buildings in the capital on Tuesday. The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, participated in the service.

The Ministry of Interior had previously stated that the funeral prayers would be held after the afternoon prayer on Thursday, September 11, at the Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque, and the victims would be laid to rest in the Mesaimeer Cemetery.

Israel targeted residential buildings in Doha with a missile strike on Tuesday. Several members of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) resided in the buildings. Hamas stated that its senior officials survived, while five of its members and a member of the Qatari security forces were killed.

وكانت وزارة الداخلية قالت في وقت سابق -في بيان- إن صلاة الجنازة ستقام بعد صلاة عصر اليوم الخميس 11 سبتمبر/أيلول في جامع الشيخ محمد بن عبد الوهاب، وسيوارى الشهداء الثرى في مقبرة مسيمير.

واستهدفت إسرائيل بهجوم صاروخي أول أمس الثلاثاء، مباني سكنية في الدوحة، يقيم فيها عدد من أعضاء المكتب السياسي لحركة المقاومة الإسلامية (حماس)، لكن الحركة قالت إن كبار مسؤوليها نجوا، في حين استشهد 5 من أعضائها إضافة إلى عنصر في قوات الأمن القطرية.
