Organized by the Iraqi Great Creation Foundation: Colleague Mustafa Basharat Wins the Gaza Short Story Prize
Ramallah, March 3, 2025 (WAFA) – Palestinian writer, journalist, and researcher Mustafa Basharat won the Gaza Short Story Prize, organized by the Iraqi Great Creation Foundation.
Basharat attended a special honoring ceremony for the winners held in Iraq and also participated in a forum on the Arab novel, organized by the Great Creation Foundation, entitled "The Novel and Ethics."
Basharat said that his winning story, titled "Remaining in Gaza," is dedicated to the soul of Bassam Hassouna, director of the Ministry of Culture's office in Gaza, who was martyred on March 20, 2024, near Al-Shifa Hospital in the city.
Basharat thanked the sponsor and organizer of the prize for restoring the reputation of the short story, given its ability to express the most sensitive historical moments in their human dimension, social meaning, and national and pan-Arab significance. He added, "This is especially true when it comes to Gaza and the massacres that have taken place and are taking place there." Basharat's story was published in a 114-page book titled "Letters from Gaza," published by the Great Creation Foundation. The book includes an introductory overview of the foundation, its projects, and its mission, as well as other stories that won a competition in which writers from eleven Arab countries participated.
In addition to winning awards in various fields, Basharat has also won two other short story awards: one from the Australian-Arab Cultural Forum in 2023, and a second from the Badil (Palestinian Resource Center for Citizenship and Refugee Rights) in 2015. At the beginning of his creative career, in 1990, he won the Jordanian University Students' Short Story Award. The author has a collection of short stories and a long one, which he is preparing to publish. His manuscript, "Ascending to China," was recently commended by the committee for the 2024-2025 Ibn Battuta Award for Travel Literature. The Arab Center for Geographical Literature - Irtiyad Al-Afaq, the award's sponsor, announced that it will be published in a book by Dar Al-Mutawassit in Milan.

رام الله 3-3-2025 وفا- فاز الكاتب والصحفي والباحث الفلسطيني مصطفى بشارات، بجائزة غزة للقصة القصيرة التي نظمتها مؤسسة الخلق العظيم العراقية.
وحضر الزميل بشارات حفل تكريم خاص للفائزين أقيم في العراق، كما شارك في ملتقى حول الرواية العربية نظمته مؤسسة الخلق العظيم بعنوان (الرواية والأخلاق).
وقال بشارات إن قصته الفائزة عنوانها (باق في غزة) وهي مهداة لروح بسام حسونة مدير مكتب وزارة الثقافة في غزة والذي استشهد بتاريخ 20/3/2024 في محيط مستشفى الشفاء بالمدينة.
وشكر بشارات الجهة الراعية والمنظمة للجائزة على إعادة الاعتبار للقصة القصيرة كونها الأكثر قدرة على التعبير عن اللحظات التاريخية الساخنة في بعدها الإنساني ومعناها الاجتماعي ودلالتها الوطنية والقومية؛ فما بالنا إذا كان الأمر يتعلق بغزة والمقتلة التي جرت وتجري فيها، وفق تعبيره.
ونشرت قصة بشارات في كتاب حمل عنوان (رسائل من غزة) يقع في 114 صفحة من القطع المتوسط أصدرته مؤسسة الخلق العظيم وضم نبذة تعريفية بالمؤسسة ومشاريعها ورسالتها إضافة إلى قصص أخرى فازت بالمسابقة التي شارك فيها كتاب من إحدى عشرة دولة عربية.
وإضافة إلى فوزه بجوائز في حقول عديدة، حصل بشارات على جائزتين أخريين في القصة القصيرة: واحدة من المنتدى الثقافي الأسترالي العربي عام 2023، وثانية من بديل (المركز الفلسطيني لمصادر حقوق المواطنة واللاجئين) عام 2015، فيما فاز في بداية مشواره الإبداعي عام 1990 بجائزة القصة القصيرة لطلبة الجامعات الأردنية، ولدى الكاتب مجموعة قصص قصيرة وأخرى طويلة يستعد لنشرهما، وجرى مؤخرا التنويه من قبل لجنة جائزة ابن بطوطة لأدب الرحلة 2024-2025 بمخطوطته المعنونة بـ (الصعود إلى الصين)، وأعلن المركز العربي للأدب الجغرافي– ارتياد الآفاق، الجهة الراعية للجائزة، أنها ستصدر في كتاب عن دار المتوسط في ميلانو
