Sheikh Ismail al-Hawrani, during the third Jabalia round, announced that he had lost contact with the American border. Anyone living in the north knows what the American border is like. He spent more than 120 days there, surrounded by tank tracks and enemy soldiers on all sides. His martyrdom was announced at that time. I remember that on the first day of the previous truce, I saw him in the al-Amoudi area, emerging from the place where he had been besieged. I rubbed my eyes as if I were dreaming. I felt as if I was seeing a noble angel, not a human being. I approached him, felt him, and asked, "Are you Ismail?" He said to me: Oh man!
I said to him: Do you know how many times I have prayed for your soul?
He laughed and said: The deceased himself is right in front of you.
Yesterday, everyone who knew Sheikh Ismail was shocked by the news of his martyrdom, in a place where they had never expected him to be martyred.
It was as if God had made him a sign, a symbol, and evidence that courage does not diminish one's lifespan, and likewise cowardice does not increase it.
You have the right, Sheikh Ismail, to repeat Khaled's words: May the eyes of cowards never sleep.
May God have mercy on Sheikh Ismail and his two brothers, Ahmed and Khaled.

الشيخ إسماعيل الحوراني ، في جولة جباليا الثالثة أعلن فقدان الاتصال معه حيث كان على ثغر الأمريكية ، ومن يعش في الشمال يعي ما هو ثغر الأمريكية ، قضى أكثر من مئة وعشرين يوما هناك ، بين جنازير الدبابات ، وجنود العدو محيطين به من كل جانب
أعلن استشهاده وقتذاك ،
أذكر في أول أيام الهدنة السابقة رأيته في منطقة العامودي خارجا من من مكانه الذي حوصر به
فركت عيني وكأني أحلم ، شعرت وكأنني أرى ملاكا كريما، لا بشرا
اقتربت منه ، تحسسته سألته ؟
انت إسماعيل ؟
قالي: آه ي راجل
قلت له: انت عارف أكم مرة ترحمت عليك
ضحك وقالي : هي المرحوم شخصيا قدامك
ليصعق أمس كل من عرف الشيخ اسماعيل بخبر استشهاده ، في موطن لم يكن يتوقع أن يستشهد فيه
وكأن الله جعله آية وعلامة ودليلا على أن الإقدام لا ينقص من العمر وكذا الجبن لا يزيد فيه
حق لك ي شيخ اسماعيل أن تردد قولة خالد: فلا نامت أعين الجبناء
