Killing witnesses does not kill the truth. In a single moment, five candles of truth were extinguished… five sons of the island, colleagues and loved ones, whose faces we knew in our homes as familiarly as the heartbeat. Anas al-Sharif and Muhammad Qariqa, two voices that faced the storm with words, and alongside them Muhammad Nawfal, Mu'min Aliwa, and Ibrahim Daher… knights of the camera who carried it like a flag, to bear witness and to make the world witness what is happening in Gaza.

Their assassination was not fate, but a premeditated crime, carried out by the Israeli occupation, as it officially admitted, in a war that made the journalist a target like a child, and the camera a target like a home. Since the beginning of this genocide, the lives of more than two hundred and thirty martyrs of truth have been taken, because they chose to be the eyes and voice of the people, and to expose the killer to the world. Al Jazeera lost five of its heroes today, and Gaza lost witnesses to its suffering. But the truth has not been lost, for their blood has become indelible ink, a voice louder than any bombardment. May God have mercy on them, and may their martyrdom be a curse upon the perpetrators and a light for the free. The truth will remain, and so will the image, for killing witnesses does not kill the truth. God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs. We will say only what pleases God: To God we belong, and to Him we shall return.

قتلُ الشُهود لا يقتُلُ الحقيقة ؛ في لحظةٍ واحدة، انطفأت خمسة شموعٍ من نور الحقيقة… خمسة من أبناء الجزيرة، زملاء وأحبّة، اعتدنا وجوههم في بيوتنا كما يعتاد القلب نبضه. أنس الشريف ومحمد قريقع، صوتان كانا يواجهان العاصفة بالكلمة، وإلى جوارهما محمد نوفل، مؤمن عليوة، وإبراهيم ظاهر… فرسان الصورة الذين حملوا الكاميرا كما تُحمل الراية، ليشهدوا ويُشهِدوا العالم على ما يجري في غزة.
لم يكن اغتيالهم قضاءً وقدرًا، بل جريمةً مكتملة الأركان، نفذها الاحتلال الإسرائيلي بسبق الإصرارمثلما اعترف بذلك رسميّا، في حربٍ جعلت الصحفي هدفًا كما الطفل، والعدسة هدفًا كما البيت. فمنذ بداية هذه الإبادة، أزهقت أرواح أكثر من مئتين وثلاثين من شهداء الحقيقة، لأنهم اختاروا أن يكونوا عين الناس وصوتهم، وأن يفضحوا القاتل أمام العالم.
الجزيرة فقدت اليوم خمسة من أبطالها، وغزة فقدت شهودًا على وجعها، لكن الحقيقة لم تُفقد، لأن دماءهم صارت حبرًا لا يمحوه الزمان، وصوتًا أعلى من كل قصف. رحمهم الله رحمة واسعة، وجعل شهادتهم لعنةً على الجاني ونورًا للأحرار…الحقيقة ستبقى وكذلك الصورة فقتل الشهود لا يقتُل الحقيقة ؛ حسبُنا الله ونعم الوكيل ولن نقول إلا ما يرضي الله: إنّا لله وإنّا إليه راجعون.
