President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, expressed his deep sorrow over the martyrdom of an army officer and first lieutenant, and the wounding of a soldier, this evening, as a result of the explosion of an Israeli drone that fell in the Ras al-Naqoura area in the western sector of the south, during an inspection.
After being informed by Army Commander General Rodolphe Heikal of the details of the painful incident, President Aoun stated that the army is once again paying, in blood, the price of maintaining stability in the south. This is the fourth incident in which soldiers have been martyred since the army began deploying in the area south of the Litani River. This incident coincided with the Security Council's extension of the mandate of the international forces operating in the south (UNIFIL) and the international community's call for Israel to cease its attacks, withdraw from the territories it occupies, and enable the Lebanese army to complete the extension of its authority up to the international border.

أعرب رئيس الجمهورية العماد جوزاف عون عن ألمه الشديد لاستشهاد ضابط ومعاون أول في الجيش وجرح جندي مساء اليوم نتيجة انفجار مسيرة اسرائيلية سقطت في منطقة رأس الناقورة في القطاع الغربي من الجنوب ، وذلك خلال الكشف عليها.
وقال الرئيس عون بعد اطلاعه من قائد الجيش العماد رودولف هيكل على تفاصيل الحادث المؤلم، ان الجيش يدفع مرة اخرى بالدم ثمن المحافظة على الاستقرار في الجنوب، وهذا هو الحادث الرابع الذي يستشهد فيه عسكريون منذ بدء انتشار الجيش في منطقة جنوبي الليطاني وقد تزامن مع تمديد مجلس الامن للقوات الدولية العاملة في الجنوب “اليونيفيل” ودعوة المجتمع الدولي اسرائيل لوقف اعتداءاتها والانسحاب من الأراضي التي تحتلها وتمكين الجيش اللبناني من استكمال بسط سلطته حتى الحدود الدولية .
وقدم الرئيس عون تعازيه بالشهيدين لقائد الجيش والمؤسسة العسكرية سائلا لهما الرحمة ولذويهما الصبر والسلوان ، متمنيا الشفاء العاجل للجندي الجريح .
