The International Coalition expresses regret over the killing of a civilian and holds the SDF responsible for the false report.

The International Coalition officially offered its condolences to the family of civilian Mahmoud al-Halil al-Shammari, who was killed during a military operation in the village of Karahouk in the Hasakah countryside, expressing its deep regret for the incident.

This came during a visit by a Coalition commander to the deceased's sons, Ali and Alaa, yesterday, where he expressed his "regret and apology" for the participation of its aircraft in the operation that targeted al-Shammari's home. He confirmed that the intervention was based on a report from the SDF indicating the presence of ISIS terrorist elements in the village.

A Coalition statement explained that the investigation into the incident revealed that the report was "false information," which led the Coalition into a "trap" and resulted in the death of an innocent civilian.

The Coalition also affirmed that it "pledges to take the necessary measures against those involved" in submitting the false report, without specifying the nature of these measures or the party that will be held accountable.

قدَّم التحالف الدولي تعازيه رسميًّا لأسرة المدني "محمود الهليل الشمري"، الذي لقي حتفه خلال عملية عسكرية في قرية كرهوك بريف الحسكة، معربًا عن أسفه العميق للحادث.
جاء ذلك خلال زيارة قام بها أحد قادة التحالف لولدي القتيل، علي وعلاء، أمس، حيث أعرب عن "أسفه واعتذاره" لمشاركة طائراته في العملية التي استهدفت منزل الشمري. وأكَّد أن التدخل جاء بناءً على بلاغ من قوات "قسد" أفاد بوجود عناصر من تنظيم "داعش" الإرهابي في القرية.
وأوضح بيان للتحالف أن التحقيق في الحادثة كشف أن البلاغ كان "معلومات كاذبة"، مما أدى إلى وقوع التحالف في "مصيدة" ونتج عنها مقتل مواطن بريء.
كما أكَّد التحالف أنه "يتعهد باتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة بحق المتورطين" في تقديم البلاغ الكاذب، دون أن يحدد طبيعة هذه الإجراءات أو الجهة التي سيتم محاسبتها.
