Activists: Khaled al-Masoud al-Badri Dies After Being Shot by International Coalition Forces During a Mistaken Airdrop in al-Dumayr

Khaled al-Masoud al-Badri died in Harasta Hospital from wounds sustained when he was shot by the International Coalition two days after an airdrop operation in the city of al-Dumayr in the Damascus countryside, which local sources described as a "mistaken operation."

According to activists, a force belonging to the New Syrian Army, operating in the al-Tanf area, carried out the airdrop with support from the International Coalition and arrested al-Badri. He was released hours later after it became clear that the operation had been carried out by mistake.

The sources explained that al-Masoud was shot in the side during the arrest, which necessitated his transfer to Harasta Hospital, where he later died.

The sources added that the al-Arab neighborhood in al-Dumayr is experiencing significant tension and unrest following the incident, while no official comment has been issued by the Syrian government or the International Coalition. According to activists in the region, al-Badri was a former member of the Ahrar al-Sham faction, then briefly joined ISIS, before becoming known for his cooperation with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and later with the Syrian government in an intelligence capacity.

Some accounts suggest that his arrest and subsequent reporting stemmed from a long-standing personal dispute with a member of the al-Tanf faction who hails from al-Dumayr.

وبحسب ناشطين، فإن قوة تابعة لـ«جيش سوريا الجديد» العامل في منطقة التنف، نفذت إنزالاً بمساندة من «التحالف الدولي» واعتقلت البدري، قبل أن يُفرج عنه بعد ساعات إثر تبيّن أن العملية تمت عن طريق الخطأ.
وأوضحت المصادر أن المسعود كان قد أُصيب برصاصة في الخاصرة أثناء عملية الاعتقال، ما استدعى نقله إلى مشفى حرستا حيث فارق الحياة لاحقاً.
وأضافت المصادر أن حي العرب في مدينة الضمير يشهد حالة توتر واحتقان كبيرة على خلفية الحادثة، فيما لم يصدر أي تعليق رسمي من الحكومة السورية أو من جانب «التحالف الدولي».
ووفقاً لناشطين من المنطقة، فإن البدري كان عضواً سابقاً في فصيل «أحرار الشام»، ثم التحق لاحقاً بالتنظيم لفترة قصيرة، قبل أن يُعرف بتعاونه مع «هيئة تحرير الشام» ثم مع الحكومة السورية بصفة استخباراتية.
وتشير بعض الروايات إلى أن عملية الإبلاغ عنه واعتقاله قد جاءت على خلفية خلافات شخصية قديمة مع أحد عناصر فصيل التنف المنحدرين من الضمير.
