Today, my beloved cousin, Khalil Abu Shamis (Abu Ibrahim), was martyred in a treacherous Zionist bombing that targeted the central Gaza Strip. Khalil departed as a martyr, just as he lived: generous, steadfast, true to his homeland, and with a spirit as lofty as the mountains of Palestine. Sleep in peace, you who planted manhood and honesty in us... We are saddened by your departure, and to God we belong and to Him we shall return.

بكل حزن وقلوب مكلومة، نزف إلى أحبتنا خبر استشهاد شيخ الشباب، صاحب الابتسامة التي لم تعرف الغياب، ونور الوجوه الذي كان يملأ القلوب دفئًا وطمأنينة... استُشهد اليوم ابن عمتي الحبيب، خليل أبو شميس (أبو إبراهيم)، في قصفٍ صهيونيٍ غادرٍ استهدف وسط قطاع غزة. رحل خليل شهيدًا كما عاش كريمًا، ثابتًا، صادق الانتماء لوطنه، شامخ الروح كجبال فلسطين. نم قرير العين يا من زرعت فينا الرجولة والصدق... وإنا على فراقك لمحزونون، وإنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون.
