Islam Muqdad, our colleague and journalist, hasn't seen her husband or daughter Zeina for two years due to a medical trip after Zeina sustained a serious skull injury early in the war. Islam was scared, overwhelmed, and shouldered the responsibility of two children (Sarah and Adam). Sarah was injured in the same bombing that targeted their neighbors, along with her sister Zeina. Islam has been displaced more than once, and has suffered hunger, thirst, and illness, like thousands of other Gazans. That night, Islam was a target of Israeli missiles, martyred along with Adam. She left behind Sarah in Gaza, and Zeina and her husband Ahmed outside Gaza.
