A number of Palestinians were killed and others wounded on Saturday evening when Israeli warplanes bombed a school sheltering displaced people in Gaza City.

A Wafa correspondent reported that 17 Palestinians, including children and women, were killed, and 60 others were wounded, some critically, when Israeli warplanes bombed the Al-Hamama and Al-Huda schools, which were sheltering displaced people in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, west of Gaza City.

Israeli warplanes bombed the school a second time on Saturday evening with three missiles while ambulance and civil defense crews were evacuating the dead and wounded.

This is not the first time since the start of the offensive more than 300 days ago that Israeli forces have targeted centers or schools sheltering displaced people. Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in previous attacks, the most recent being the killing of 15 Palestinians on Thursday evening in a massacre perpetrated by Israeli forces when they bombed a school sheltering displaced people in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City. A medical source at Al-Ma'madani Hospital in Gaza City reported the arrival of several martyrs and wounded, including children, as a result of an Israeli airstrike that targeted the Hamama School.

The bombing destroyed several classrooms in the school, which was crowded with displaced people.

Since the beginning of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, residents have faced the hardship of displacement, as the Israeli army forcibly evicts them in preparation for bombing, destroying, and advancing into their homes.

During their displacement, residents are forced to seek refuge in the homes of relatives or acquaintances, while others set up tents in the streets, schools, or other locations, under dire humanitarian conditions with shortages of water and sufficient food, and the spread of disease.

The number of internally displaced persons in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the offensive on October 7th has reached approximately two million. Since October 7, Israel, the occupying power, has been waging a war on the Gaza Strip that has left more than 130,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children.

وأفادت مراسلة وفا، بأن 17 مواطنا ستشهدوا بينهم أطفال ونساء، وأصيب 60 مواطنا بجروح منها إصابات خطيرة، إثر قصف الاحتلال مدرستي الحمامة والهدى اللتين تؤويا نازحين بحي الشيخ رضوان غرب مدينة غزة.
وقصفت طائرات الاحتلال للمرة الثانية مساء اليوم المدرسة بثلاثة صواريخ خلال عمل طواقم الاسعاف والدفاع المدني على اخلاء الشهداء والمصابين من المدرسة.
وهذه ليست المرة الأولى التي يستهدف فيها الاحتلال منذ بداية العدوان قبل أكثر من 300 يوم مراكز أو مدارس تؤوي نازحين، واستشهد مئات المواطنين في الاستهدافات السابقة، وكان آخرها استشهاد 15 مواطنا مساء الخميس الماضي، في مجزرة ارتكبها الاحتلال الإسرائيلي بقصفه مدرسة تؤوي نازحين في حي الشجاعية شرق مدينة غزة.
وأفاد مصدر طبي بمستشفى “المعمداني” في مدينة غزة، بوصول عدد من الشهداء والجرحى بينهم أطفال جراء قصف طيران الاحتلال استهدف مدرسة حمامة.
وأدى القصف إلى تدمير عدد من الصفوف الدراسية في المدرسة المكتظة بالنازحين.
ومنذ بداية الحرب الإسرائيلية على قطاع غزة، يواجه المواطنون معاناة النزوح، حيث يجبرهم جيش الاحتلال على إخلائها قسرا استعدادا لقصفها وتدميرها والتوغل داخلها.
ويضطر المواطنون خلال نزوحهم إلى اللجوء لمنازل أقربائهم أو معارفهم، والبعض يقيم خياما في الشوارع والمدارس أو أماكن أخرى، في ظل ظروف إنسانية صعبة حيث لا تتوفر المياه ولا الأطعمة الكافية، وتنتشر الأمراض.
وبلغ عدد النازحين داخل القطاع منذ بداية العدواتن في السابع من تشرين الأول/ أكتوبر الماضي، حوالي مليوني شخص.
ومنذ 7 من تشرين الأول/ أكتوبر، تشن إسرائيل، القوة القائمة بالاحتلال، حربا على قطاع غزة خلفت أكثر من 130 ألف شهيد وجريح، معظمهم أطفال ونساء، وما يزيد على 10 آلاف مفقود، وسط دمار هائل ومجاعة أودت بحياة عشرات الأطفال.
