Freelance photographer Areej Shaheen and her mother were killed on Friday, January 3, 2025, when Israeli warplanes bombed their home in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
In the details, her brother, Ayman Shaheen, told a SKeyes reporter: "My sister Areej was in the house when it was bombed by Israeli warplanes on Friday evening, killing her and our mother. My father also suffered bruises."

قُتِلت المصوّرة الحرّة أريج شاهين ووالدتها، يوم الجمعة 3 كانون الثاني/يناير 2025، بقصف الطيران الحربي الإسرائيلي منزلهما في مخيّم النصيرات للّاجئين الفلسطينيين وسط قطاع غزة.
وفي التفاصيل، قال شقيقها أيمن شاهين لمراسل "سكايز": "كانت شقيقتي أريج في المنزل عندما قصفه الطيران الحربي الإسرائيلي مساء الجمعة، ما أدّى إلى استشهادها مع ووالدتنا، كما أصيب والدي برضوض".
