The official Palestinian news agency (WAFA) announced on Tuesday the killing of journalist Mohammed Abu Hasira, along with a large number of his family members, in an Israeli bombing that hit their home west of Gaza City. Abu Hasira was killed along with 42 members of his family, including his sons and brothers, and several others were injured, including his wife, who lost her left eye, and his eldest son, who had his leg amputated, according to the agency. The media office of the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip said that the journalist was killed in a bombing that occurred on the night of Sunday-Monday, but his body was not recovered from under the rubble until Tuesday, and the information could not be independently verified. The Committee to Protect Journalists had confirmed the killing of at least 36 journalists and media workers since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas, including 31 Palestinians, 4 Israelis, and a Lebanese journalist.
