Lebanon bids farewell to the great artist #Ziad_Rahbani, a phenomenon of his free nature in a country that has long been a prisoner of words and truth.
He has departed, speaking the truth when everyone else was silent. He sang of love as well as of pain. He wrote music that would become a mirror for an entire people.

As a deep admirer of Lebanese culture, I see in his passing the loss of an icon who resisted ugliness with sarcasm, fear with courage, and injustice with words.
Ziad was not just a Lebanese artist; he was the voice of a free conscience, the pulse of the street, and the irony of an intellectual unafraid of the truth.

I hope that his spirit will be immortalized in generations that believe that art has a role, words carry weight, and Lebanon has a free face resembling his.
