Martyr Akram Al-Shafei

He worked as a journalist and was known for his love and dedication to his work and his country. Everyone who knew him loved him and attested to his kind heart, faith, and morals. He raised his children to memorize the Quran, and most of them memorized the Holy Book. He was dedicated to their education, enabling them to excel in school and university. He also cared for his loyal, religious, and patient wife, who supported him.

Akram was injured while covering the hospital in Al-Shifa Hospital, due to Israeli shelling adjacent to the hospital. He underwent two operations after suffering without anesthesia. When the hospital was besieged by the occupying army, he remained for a period of time without medical care, water, or food despite his injury. His daughter cared for him during the siege and tried to keep him alive.

After a long period of siege, they were transferred to the European Gaza Hospital. Akram began to improve and was ready to go home. However, his health deteriorated and he was admitted to intensive care.

Akram's family sought to arrange for him to travel abroad for treatment, but the unjust aggression delayed his travel until he fell into a coma. His pure soul ascended to his Creator on Friday, January 5, 2024.

Akram ascended, his face beaming with a smile that surprised everyone, as if he were 30 years old. God Almighty said: {Some faces, that Day, will be radiant (38) Laughing, rejoicing (39)}.

عمل كصحفي، وكان معروفًا بحبه وإخلاصه لعمله ووطنه، أحبه جميع من عرفه، وشهدوا بطيبة قلبه وإيمانه وأخلاقه، ربى أبنائه على حفظ القرآن فكان معظمهم من حفظة الكتاب الكريم، وكان يهتم بتعليمهم ليتميزوا بتفوقهم في المدارس والجامعات، كما اهتم بزوجته المخلصة المتدينة الصابرة التي كانت سندًا له.

أصيب أكرم أثناء وجوده وتغطيته في مستشفى الشفاء جراء القصف الإسرائيلي المجاور للمشفى بشظايا في البطن، وأجرى عمليتين بعد معاناة بدون أي مخدر، وحين تمت محاصرة المشفى من قبل جيش الاحتلال، بقي فترة من الزمن بدون رعاية صحية أو ماء أو طعام رغم إصابته، مع ابنته التي اهتمت به خلال فترة الحصار وحاولت إبقاءه على قيد الحياة.

بعد فترة طويلة من الحصار تمّ نقلهم إلى مستشفى غزة الأوروبي، وبدأ أكرم بالتحسن واستعدّ للخروج إلى منزله، لكن حالته الصحية انتكست وبدأت تزداد سوءًا، ما أدّى لدخوله إلى العناية المركزة.

سعت عائلة أكرم لتعمل على سفره للعلاج في الخارج، ولكن سياسة العداون الظالم أخّرت سفره، حتى دخل في غيبوبة، لتصعد روحه الطيبة لخالقها في يوم الجمعة 5 يناير 2024.

ارتقى أكرم وعلى وجهه ضحكة تعجّب منها الجميع، وكأن عمره 30 عامًا، قال تعالى: {وُجُوهࣱ یَوۡمَئذࣲ مُّسۡفِرَةࣱ (38) ضَاحِكَةࣱ مُّسۡتَبۡشِرَةࣱ (39)}.
