The Palestinian Journalists Forum announced on Friday the death of journalist Alaa Asaad Hashem, who succumbed to her injuries sustained in a previous Israeli airstrike on Gaza City during the genocidal war on the Strip.

Hashem's death brings the number of Palestinian journalists killed in the Israeli genocide since October 7, 2023, to 206.

In a statement, the non-governmental forum mourned Hashem and condemned the international silence and failure to protect Palestinian journalists. It called for "the empowerment of journalists to perform their professional duties in accordance with international law and humanitarian conventions."

وباستشهاد هاشم، ترتفع إلى 206 حصيلة الصحفيين الفلسطينيين الذين استشهدوا خلال الإبادة الإسرائيلية منذ 7 أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول 2023.

ونعى المنتدى غير الحكومي، في بيان، الصحفية هاشم وأدان الصمت الدولي والعجز عن حماية الصحفيين الفلسطينيين، وطالب "بتمكين الصحفيين من أداء واجبهم المهني وفقا للقوانين الدولية والمواثيق الإنسانية".
