Israeli Occupation Forces Assassinate Al Jazeera Correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qariqa

The Israeli occupation forces assassinated Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qariqa in a bombing that targeted the journalists' tent in front of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

The director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza reported late Sunday night that Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qariqa were killed in an Israeli bombing that targeted the journalists' tent near the hospital.

The bombing also resulted in the deaths of three cameramen: Ibrahim Daher, Mohammed Nawfal, and Mo'men Aliwa. An Israeli drone targeted the journalists' tent adjacent to Al-Shifa Hospital.

The Israeli occupation army admitted to targeting Al Jazeera correspondent Anas Al-Sharif, who had previously incited against them in recent days.

The Committee to Protect Journalists had previously expressed its deep concern for the safety of correspondent Anas Al-Sharif in northern Gaza after he was subjected to accusations and incitement by a spokesperson for the Israeli occupation army.

Al Jazeera Media Network condemned the incitement by the Israeli occupation army and its spokespeople against its journalists, particularly correspondent Anas al-Sharif. The network considered the incitement campaign a dangerous attempt to justify targeting its journalists in the Gaza Strip and held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the safety of its staff in the Strip.

The Government Media Office in Gaza condemned in the strongest terms the heinous and horrific crime committed by the occupation army in assassinating five journalists following a direct attack on the journalists' tent near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

In a statement, the office said, "The assassination was premeditated and deliberate, following a deliberate and direct attack on the journalists' tent near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City." It added that the attack "aims to silence the truth and obscure the evidence of genocidal crimes, and is a prelude to the occupation's criminal plan to cover up past and future massacres that it has committed and intends to commit in Gaza."

With the assassination of the five journalists by the occupation, the number of martyred journalists killed by the occupation in the Gaza Strip during the genocide and up to now rises to 237 martyred journalists, according to the statement.

اغتال الاحتلال الإسرائيلي مراسلي قناة الجزيرة أنس الشريف ومحمد قريقع، بقصف استهدف خيمة الصحفيين أمام مستشفى الشفاء بمدينة غزة.

وأفاد مدير مجمع الشفاء الطبي في غزة -ليل الأحد الإثنين- باستشهاد مراسلي الجزيرة أنس الشريف ومحمد قريقع جراء قصف إسرائيلي استهدف خيمة الصحفيين قرب المستشفى.

وأسفر القصف أيضا عن استشهاد ثلاثة مصورين وهم: إبراهيم ظاهر، ومحمد نوفل، ومؤمن عليوة، حيث استهدفت مسيّرة إسرائيلية خيمة الصحفيين الملاصقة لمستشفى الشفاء.



وأقر جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي باستهداف مراسل الجزيرة أنس الشريف، الذي سبق وحرض عليهم خلال الأيام.

وسبق أن عبّرت لجنة حماية الصحافيين عن قلقها العميق بشأن سلامة المراسل في شمال غزة أنس الشريف بعد أن تعرّض للاتهامات والتحريض من متحدث باسم جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي.

وكانت شبكة الجزيرة الإعلامية نددت في تحريض جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي والناطقين باسمه ضد صحفييها، خصوصا الزميل المراسل أنس الشريف، واعتبرت الحملة التحريضية محاولة خطيرة لتبرير استهداف صحفييها في قطاع غزة، وحمّلت سلطات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي المسؤولية الكاملة عن سلامة كوادرها في القطاع.

وأدان مكتب الإعلام الحكومي في غزة، بأشد العبارات الجريمة الوحشية البشعة والمروعة التي ارتكبها جيش الاحتلال باغتيال 5 من الصحفيين عقب قصف مباشر لخيمة الصحفيين بمحيط مستشفى الشفاء في مدينة غزة.

وقال في بيان "تمت عملية الاغتيال مع سبق الإصرار والترصد بعد استهداف مقصود ومتعمد ومباشر لخيمة الصحفيين في محيط مستشفى الشفاء بمدينة غزة"، لافتا أنها "تهدف لإسكات الحقيقة وطمس معالم جرائم الإبادة، وهي تمهيد لخطة الاحتلال الإجرامية للتغطية على المذابح الوحشية الماضية والقادمة التي نفّذها وينوي تنفيذها في غزة".

باغتيال الاحتلال الخمسة الصحافيين يرتفع عدد الشهداء الصحفيين الذين قلتهم الاحتلال في قطاع غزة خلال الإبادة الجماعية وحتى الآن إلى 237 صحفياً شهيداً، وفق البيان.
