Airwars assessment

One civilian was reported killed in artillery shelling in Tal Melh, Hama, on June 22nd.

Syrian Network for Human Rights named the civilian killed as Ahmad Ibrahim al Hmoud.

Although Step News alleged the death of one civilian in one tweet, naming the Syrian regime as the responsible belligerent, another report by Step News regarding the incident did not document civilian harm, attributing the attack to Russian forces. Syrian Network for Human Rights and Halab Today TV named the Syrian regime as the belligerent responsible for the shelling.

One civilian was reported killed in an airstrike on Kansafra, Idlib, on June 22nd.

According to Step News, “a number of civilians were killed and injured on Saturday as a result of renewed aerial bombardment of the southern countryside of Idlib,” including “the killing of a civilian in the town of Kansafra”-  listed among other locations and casualties.

Syrian Network for Human Rights named the civilian killed as Khaled Amin al Rustum, allegedly killed as the “Syrian regime fired missiles near Nasim al Khalil Primary School in Kansafra village.”

While a number of sources documented “others wounded”, Syria.liveuamap cited three wounded in the attack.

While two sources attributed the airstrike to the Syrian regime, Step News named both Russian forces and the Syrian regime in repeating the incident. Meanwhile, five other sources did not positively attribute blame.

An airstrike local sources believed to be Russian struck a residential neighborhood in Saraqib. According to the Syrian Civil Defense forces who were at the scene, four high-explosive missiles struck a house and killed a family of five, including two women and two children. The source claimed seven other civilians were wounded, including two children.

@Abdhasa41673390 tweeted a picture of one of the children who was reported killed with a certificate of excellence in his hands which he received from the school days earlier to the strike. According to the source, he, his father, brother, mother and grandmother were killed and found under the rubble of their house.

No other details are known at this time.

Macro Media Centre and Syria.liveuamap alleged that “one civilian was killed and three others wounded in air raids on the city of Khan Al Subul”, while Edlib Media Centre initially reported that “a man and a woman were injured when a military aircraft targeted the town of Khan al-Subul, south of Idlib, with rockets.”

As understanding of the events unfolded, this same source, Edlib Media Centre documented “the martyrdom of a man who was wounded by a missile attack.”

EdlibNN said that one civilian was killed and six wounded.

Mohammed Mustafa Al Satuf reported the same casualty toll and added two raids were conducted by a Su-24 with six missiles. He said a child and a woman were among the wounded.

While four sources did not positively attribute blame for the attack, Shahba Press attributed the airstrike to the Syrian regime, while Step News named both Russian forces and the Syrian regime in reporting the incident.

While Shaam News referred to martyrs, without making clear the status of those killed, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that  “two members of the rebel factions were killed,” along with “the injury of at least eight others.”

According to Smart News, the attack was carried out with rockets.

Four civilians including a little girl were killed when airstrikes struck Rif Al Muhandisin Al Thani, in the countryside of west of Aleppo on June 21st, 2019.

Syrian Human Rights Commission named the girl killed as Aya al-Satouf.

Up to eight civilians were also allegedly wounded, including children. According to Step News, the civilians were struck by two airstrikes, while the Syrian Human Rights Committee reported shelling.

Smart News reported that “the warplanes bombarded a residential area between the village of Urma al-Kubra and “Rid Al Muhandisin Al Tahni” west of Aleppo, north of the country, killing four civilians including a girl and injuring six others.”

Meanwhile, Shahba Press stated that the airstrikes “resulted in the death of a girl and three – wounding eight civilians.”

Orient said the area targeted contained a popular market, and a parking for vans and cars. The area is known to be usually crowded on Friday, when the attack happened.

Both Russian and Syrian regime forces were blamed by various sources.

Three civilians from the same family were reported killed in alleged Russian forces or Syrian regime shelling or airstrikes on Kafar Zeita in Hama on June 20th, 2019, according to local sources.

Among the victims is Khalaf Al-Na’san, and his wife Wa’ad Al-Khalaf and their son. It was reported that Wa’ad died of her wounds.

Syria Civil Defense reported that “the cities and towns of liberated northern Syria are still under constant bombardment by the regime’s forces and their Russian allies,” listing a number of locations and casualties, among which the incident in Kafar Zeita is reported.

Similarly, Shaam News named both Russian forces and the Syrian regime in reporting the attack, among others, in Kafar Zeita.
