Local media reported that civilians were killed and wounded in alleged Russian strikes on Banin and al Deir al Sharqi. Most sources said that missiles had been fired on Banin from Russian battleships.

Khaled al Waleed and Adam.sy said that three civilians had been wounded.

According to HNN, there were “martyrs and wounded in shelling by Russian battleships” – but the source didn’t provide numbers.

Violations Documentation Centre reported that a man died from his injures three days later. He was reportedly from from Deir al-Sharqi town.

Local media reported that between two and six civilians – an entire family, according to one source – died in alleged Russian or regime strikes on al Tamana’a. Sources blamed both Russian airstrikes or missiles fired from Russian battleships. Some other sources also pointed to regime warplanes.

HNN reported that there had been “martyrs and wounded as a result of shelling byRussian battleships in the Mediterranean on the villages of Jabal al-Zawia in southern countryside Idlib”.

According to the Facebook group ‘Al Tamana’a the Free media office of the town’ on Sept 22nd: “The warplanes of the Russian air force and the regime continue to intensify their air raids on the town of Al-Tamanah for the fourth day in a row. The number of raids reached 36, resulting in the injury of a whole family (father, mother and four children), in addition to the large destruction of civilian homes and farms surrounding the town.”

Between three and nine civilians, including one to four women and one to four children, were killed and others were wounded in alleged Russian ore regime airstrikes against the town of Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib.

The civilians that were killed were from the same family, with Smart News Agency reporting that they were a mother, father, and child. According to the Syrian Network for Human Rights reported that they were three children and two women.

VDC however, listed two separate families as victims, including five members of al mazbouh family and three from al munzir family.

SN4HR reported that “at least 3 civilians (a girl and her parents), IDPs from Khattab town in Hama governorate northwestern suburbs, killed in suspected Russian warplanes missiles fired on al Gharbi neighborhood”.

The family had been internally displaced from the town of Khattab in Hama. A report by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published the day after the incident increased the number of killed to nine.

The majority of sources that reported on the incident, including Smart News Agency and Shaam Network, reported that Russian planes were responsible for carrying out the airstrikes. Khan Sheikhan Today did not include who was to blame for the airstrikes.

However the journalist Mohammad salom al abd said that the had carried out a strike on Khan Sheikhoun, while the White Helmets and Wissal TV blamed regime strikes for the death of five civilians.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, at least ten airstrikes struck areas around the city of Khan Sheikhoun and the roads that lead to it, causing damage to the infrastructure of the city. The airstrikes were part of a campaign against the cities and towns of rural Idlib that had been going on for three days. Civil Defense teams removed the victims of the airstrikes from the rubble.

Between two and three civilians, including a woman and a child, were killed and nine others, including children, were injured in alleged Russian or Syrian regime airstrikes against the town of Kala’at al Madeeq in northwestern Hama, according to local sources. The initial estimate of two civilians killed was reported by Smart News Agency while Al Latamna reported the next day (September 22nd) that a child had died of their wounds sustained in the airstrikes, bringing the estimate to three civilians killed.

Smart News Agency reported that the city center was struck by the airstrikes, resulting in the death of a young man and a woman. The civil defense teams transported the wounded to nearby field hospitals and among the wounded, the injuries varied between medium and critical. According to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, around five airstrikes were launched against the town.

Conflicting reports were given as to who was responsible for carrying out the airstrikes. Smart News Agency identified Russian planes as responsible while Syrian Network for Human Rights only identified the planes as belonging to the Syrian-Russian alliance. The other two sources that reported on the incident, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Al Latamna, did not identify who was to blame.

An elderly man was killed in Kfar Nbouda as more than seven rocket attacks bombarded the town, local sources reported.

A house collapsed killing the 75-year-old while his wife’s leg later required amputation. The Syrian Network for Human Rights also reported a second death in the town. They were the only media outlet to cite the involvement of the Syrian regime with most sources attributing the strikes to Russian forces.

According to the Syrian Network for Human Rights, “two civilians (a woman and her husband) killed in Syrian-Russian alliance warplanes missiles fired on Kafr Nbouda town in Hama governorate northwestern suburbs on September 20, 2017.”

The raids utilised vacuum and concussion rockets, according to Alitihad Press.
