{"id":27886,"date":"2015-10-06T15:49:40","date_gmt":"2015-10-06T15:49:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/airwars.org\/civilian-casualties\/rs021\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T11:09:02","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T11:09:02","slug":"rs021-cs134-october-6-2015","status":"publish","type":"civ","link":"https:\/\/airwars.org\/civilian-casualties\/rs021-cs134-october-6-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"RS021 CS134 &#8211; October 6, 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the Syrian Observatory, \u201cpreliminary information reported the death of civilians \u2013 including women and children \u2013 in the bombing by Russian warplanes on areas at the eastern outskirts of Palmyra city which is controlled by the \u2018Islamic State\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to most sources, between 12 and 14 members of two Bedouin families died, including five children and four women. Russian aircraft reportedly targeted the Al Wadi Al Ahmar [Red Valley] residential area in the east of the city.<\/p>\n<p>The Violations Documentation Center said 15 civilian males were killed, though did not identify any by name. Syrian Observatory for Human Rights instead said 15 Daesh fighters died alongside civilians.<\/p>\n<p>A Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alsouria.net\/content\/%D9%85%D9%88%D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88-%D8%AA%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%86-%D8%A3%D9%86%D9%87%D8%A7-%D9%84%D9%86-%D8%AA%D9%82%D9%88%D9%85-%D8%A8%D8%B9%D9%85%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%A8%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%A8%D8%B3%D9%88%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D9%88%D8%AA%D9%86%D9%81%D9%8A-%D9%82%D8%B5%D9%81%D9%87%D8%A7-%D9%84%D8%AA%D8%AF%D9%85%D8%B1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">was quoted as saying<\/a> \u201cWe do not hit populated areas .. especially those with antiquities\u201d when asked whether Russia had carried out strikes at Palmyra.
