On December 6, 2016, between 8 and 15 civilians were reportedly killed and dozens more were wounded in alleged Russia or Syrian regime airstrikes on a popular market in Maarat Misrin, according to local media.<\/p>\n
Halab News and Idlib Media Center were among sources that attributed the event to Russia.<\/p>\n
The majority of reports put the death toll at eight, though Syria News Desk said that as many as 15 had died including five children. It said that there had been two raids and blamed both Russia and the regime.<\/p>\n
LCCSY reported that eight civilians were killed in the incident and indentified some victims in a post on Facebook. Three children<\/strong> belonging to the Kashour family were killed as well as two male victims called Salah Bawaba<\/strong> and Zakaria Hanano<\/strong>. A girl called Rinad Ghazal<\/strong> was injured in the incident on December 6 and died as a result of her injuries two days later, according to Syrian Network for Human Rights.<\/p>\n The Smart News Agency,\u00a0Maaramc and the Syrian Network for Human Rights said that the regime was responsible.<\/p>\n Husseintalal posted an image of a man crouched next to a victim in a black body bag on Twitter\/X with the caption “A nurse who rescued three children and learned later that they were his”.<\/p>\n A similar image posted by a Twitter user named Abu Samra was described as a father saying goodbye to his three children following the strike.
