Airwars assessment
On November 2, 2023, a number of people were killed and injured in an alleged Israeli airstrike on a house in the town of al-Zawaida in the Deir al-Balah region of the Gaza Strip.
The day of the alleged strike, Facebook user Eh S Mahmoud reported that “a house in al-Zawaida was […] targeted.” A tweet by @moi_syria1 corroborated this, quoting “Palestinian media [as reporting] martyrs and wounded as a result of Israeli [military] aircraft bombing a house in the al-Zawaida area.”
There were no publicly available details of the names of the victims.
Twitter/X users @AbdelIdriso and @Fatim_ali99 similarly tweeted that “[Israeli military] aircraft bombed a family in al-Zawaida in the central Gaza Strip while they were preparing bread” and shared a video showing a woman with visible head injuries describing the incident. A shrouded body and an injured man are visible in the background of the clip. Another video shared by @ShehabAgency, Gaza Now and others shows an injured child crying in a hospital as he “searches for his mother after the family was bombed west of al-Zawaida.” He is joined by two other injured children, though it is not clear if they were injured in the same incident.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to Israeli forces.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
