Multiple civilians were reportedly injured in the courtyard of the Indonesian Hospital in North Gaza as a result of an alleged Israeli airstrike and/or artillery shelling in the late evening of Saturday 28th October 2023.
Numerous sources, including the Palestinian Shehab News Agency, reported that multiple people in the courtyard of the Indonesian hospital were injured in the incident. No source indicated the specific number of injuries and no deaths were reported.
A video posted on Twitter/X by @GaraaNewsm showed rescuers working by torchlight in the aftermath of the strike among destroyed structures. One rescuer can be seen carrying an injured young boy away from the scene.
Some sources indicated that several homes in the immediate vicinity of the hospital were being bombed and shelled when those in the courtyard were injured.
Heba Kassab and Amar Faiyad posted a video on Facebook showing an explosion that allegedly resulted from one of these strikes surrounding the hospital.
A further video was posted on Facebook by Ahmad Assaf depicting a small crater in the courtyard of the Indonesian hospital, reportedly resulting from an artillery shell.
Meanwhile, images posted on Twitter/X from inside an accommodation area in the Indonesian Hospital by the Shehab News Agency showed damage to the roof and electrical wiring. The pro-Hamas news agency indicated that this damage had been caused by the strike(s) and had led to a power outage.
According to Viida Wardeh, writing on Facebook, the Indonesian hospital was filled with around 10,000 displaced people and patients at the time of the incident. Viida also shared images showing craters in the pavement caused by the artillery shells.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike(s) to Israeli forces.
The strike which allegedly caused the injuries occurred before 23:00 local time.
The incident occured during the night.
