Two civilians were reportedly killed and a number of others injured in an alleged Israeli airstrike and/or artillery strike on a group of people in the vicinity of the Salah al-Din mosque in the Al-Zeitoun neighbourhood of the Gaza City on the morning of Thursday, 1st August 2024.

Palestinian news website Bawabat al-Hadaf, citing the Gazan Civil Defense, reported that two civilians were killed in the strike(s).

Multiple other sources, also citing the Gazan Civil Defense, indicated that the alleged Israeli strike(s) had resulted in multiple injuries, but did not report fatalities. For example, the Gaza-based Safa News Agency reported that multiple people were injured whilst the Amman-based al-Ghad TV suggested that “a number of Palestinians” had been wounded in the incident.

Numerous further sources, including the London-based al-Araby al-Jadeed (The New Arab) and the Shehab News Agency, reported that one person with a serious injury was transported to the Baptist Hospital (also known as the al-Ahli Arab Hospital) following the strike(s).

No sources provided any information about the identities of those allegedly killed or wounded in the incident.

All available sources attributed the strike(s) to the Israeli military.
