At least three Palestinian Civil Defense personnel members were injured in an alleged Israeli airstrike and/or artillery strike which reportedly hit them as they were performing rescue operations on the morning of Monday, 6th November 2023.

A video, separately shared by numerous sources including news network Al Jazeera, depicted three injured adult male members of the Civil Defense lying on the hospital floor receiving and awaiting treatment. A fourth Civil Defense member was also sitting on the floor, but it is unclear from the footage whether he was also injured in the incident.

Multiple sources, including Al Jazeera, reported that the Civil Defense personnel had been performing rescue operations, searching for survivors of previous Israeli strikes, at the time of the incident. Sources diverged on the nature of the strike, with Al Jazeera Palestine attributing the injuries to “shelling” and Al Arabiya pointing to “warplanes”.

The locations of both the incident and the hospital where those injured were transported were not provided by the available sources.

Whilst the exact time of the incident is also unclear, the fact that the incident was first reported in the morning and that it is dark in the video footage indicates that the strike(s) occurred prior to sunrise which was at 06:02 local time.

All available sources attributed the strike(s) to the Israeli military.
