Last Updated: December 15, 2024

At least seven identified civilians, including two women and four children, were killed and civilians were injured in an alleged airstrike perpetrated by the Israeli military on the Sheikh Al Eid family home in Musabeh, the north of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, on the 10th of October 2023.

The Sheikh Al Eid Al Zamly family posted that the list of people killed in the strike were identified in relation to the owner of of the house, Hajj Ahmed Suleiman Eid Ismail al-Zamili (Abu Osama) as 27-year-old Taher Ismail Suleiman Eid al-Zamili (the nephew of Hajj Ahmed), 22-year-old Manar Raed Shuaib Mansour Hassan al-Zamili (the wife of Hajj Ahmed’s son), 27-year-old Noura Abdel Qader Mansour Sheikh al-Eid (the wife of Hajj Ahmed’s son) and the children (grandchildren of Hajj Ahmed): Hour Yassin Ahmed Sheikh al-Eid, not yet a year old; 2-year-old Muhammad Yassin Ahmed Sheikh al-Eid; 7-year-old Aseel Suleiman Ahmed Sheikh al-Eid, and 1-year-old Ahmed Mustafa Ahmed Sheikh al-Eid.

Abdul Karim Sliman shared a condolence message with a photograph of the “heroic” Taher Ismail Suleiman Eid al-Zamili, which shows him as a young man in his twenties, smiling at the camera. He wished that “God have mercy on him and grant him paradise.” Other grieving family members also expressed their prayers for the family to return “to God”.

Initial reports concerning civilian casualties assumed lower figures. Al Ghad TV first reported at 9:49am that four people were recovered from under the rubble of the home hit by Israeli military aircrafts. Safa Press Service later stated at 1:22pm that the death toll had risen to seven civilians including four children and two women while a Facebook post from Naji Sheikh al-Eid reported that “eight martyrs rose”. The family’s post confirmed this. Abdulhadi Hamada on Facebook alleged the strike occurred “without warning”.

Adel Za’rab’s post on Facebook shows photographs of first responders carrying in at least six different injured children, an injured woman, and at least two deceased children into the Abu Youssef al-Najjar hospital. The children are covered in blood and some are lifeless. Other photographs show first responders attempting to recover people from under the rubble.

Other photographs show the infrastructural damage caused by the strike, as buildings appear heavily damaged.

Though Facebook user Mohmad Yous specified eight people had been wounded, further information regarding the injured is unknown.

All names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health list of fatalities in Gaza, released October 26, 2023.

Where sources named a belligerent, all sources claimed the Israeli military was responsible.
