Three people – including a child – were reported killed and 15 injured after an alleged Israeli airstrike near the Abu Rashid Pool in the Hafsa School, located in North Gaza’s Jabalia Refugee Camp, on 14 October, 2024. The school was housing displaced people at the time of the strike. Local sources first reported the strike shortly after 3PM, meaning it likely took place in the afternoon.

The only named casualty was the child 10-year-old Abdul Rahman Saadi Qasem, who was described by Facebook user Arabi as “playing with blue skates” at the time of the strike, which resulted in his death. An image was shared by Facebook user Al Sahfi Muthana Najjar of a lifeless Abdul Rahman. Though the photograph has been blurred due to its sensitivity, it is clear that Abdul Rahman’s trousers are bloodied; his skates were still on his feet.

Facebook user Al Moheeb Al Nemr first posted that three had been killed and 15 injured, a claim that was repeated by other sources. Other social media users decried the killing of a child. Further information regarding their identities or nature of their injuries was not found among local sources. This assessment will be updated if further information emerges.

Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers.
