On October 4, 2024, Salah Sheikh al-Eid passed away after succumbing to his injuries sustained in an earlier attack. Al-Eid had been caught up in a bombing or shelling that had occurred either a week or 10 days previously in Rafah or Khan Younis. The date of this incident has therefore been put as September 24th.

Sharing the news of his death, friends and family took to social media to mourn the loss of his life. In a heartfelt post, Yousef Ismail, Salah’s brother-in-law, lamented that with Salah’s death, “The eyes shed tears and the heart is saddened”. Others shared religious messages of condolence, stating, “And never think that those who were killed in the cause of Allah are dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, and they are provided for.” The Amwaj Taxi Office also wrote a tribute for Salah, implying he may have been an employee.

As no sources attributed belligerent status to the attack, the incident has been graded as “Contested” until further information comes to light. For the same reason, the civilian harm status has been graded as “contested”.
