At least two people were killed and others injured after an alleged Israeli airstrike near Beit Lahia’s Kamal Adwan Hospital on 21 December, 2024. All sources that specified casualty tolls reported two deaths, and multiple injuries.

Safa News initially reported that “martyrs and wounded” resulted from an Israeli raid in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan Hospital. Images shared by X/Twitter user @SayfAlqudss show a deceased body of a man. An older man is cradling his face.

@khaberni, sharing a video of a deceased man filmed from a distance, captioned the video with an inditement: that the Israeli army “executed him and left him to bleed’ and that “any attempts to save him were prevented”. The video and sentiments were repeated by several following accounts.

Twitter/X user @AsharqNOW posted a video in which journalist Nour al-Suwairki reports from Deir al-Balah. In the video, Nour reports that air raids and artillery shelling had been occurring in the vicinity of the hospital since the morning, “in a sporadic and intermittent manner”. Nour said that the sporadic nature of the shelling had allowed for two victims who had been killed in the vicinity of the hospital to be recovered.

Nour also spoke to the state of the hospital itself, saying that the shootings and shelling were affecting the work of the hospital, “which [was] operating at its minimum.”

Speaking to the state inside the hospital, Nour said that the medical workers were besieged. She said in the past hours, nine of the wounded had been receiving treatment in the hospital had required surgical interventions, and as such, had been evacuated to Gaza City through “coordination with the World Health Organisation.” Still, “about 70 wounded who also required surgical and therapeutic interventions remained inside the hospital.”

The “humanitarian situation” inside the hospital was also reportedly dire, and those working at the hospital reportedly “appealed for food supplies to be brought in through international organisations, whether for it, the working crews, or even for the wounded and patients inside the hospital.”

Nour closed her report, saying that intense shelling operations were continuing in the north western areas of Gaza City, “an area that is basically destroyed and is being destroyed.”

Where sources identified a belligerent, all referenced the Israeli military.
