On Wednesday, December 12, 2024, before 10:51 a.m., three members of the al-Mabhouh family, including two children, were killed during an alleged Israeli airstrike outside the gate of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia in North Gaza.

The victims who were names as killed in this incident were 34-year-old Afnan Abdulhai al-Mabhouh, a mother, accompanied by her daughter Israa Hassan al-Mabhouh and her son 15-year-old Hamza Abdullah Hassan al-Mabhouh. WAFA News Agency shared a photograph of a corpse in a white body bag being transported to an ambulance on a rescue stretcher by medical personnel. The top of a head is visible beneath the covering.

The deceased leave behind their brothers, uncles and great-uncles Jad al-Mabhouh Abu al-Abd, Tariq al-Mabhouh and Ahmed al-Mabhouh, who heartily expressed their grief through Facebook posts, remembering Afnan as a “compassionate mother.” Similarly, Amal Saad el-Din wrote about the loss of her close friend Afnan recalling how, despite the hardship, she refused to leave her home in northern Gaza: “No, by God, I will not leave the north except to heaven.” The latter three posts included photographs of the deceased Afnan Abdulhai al-Mabhouh. Two depicted her wearing a beautiful rose-coloured hijab, while another showed her smiling during a bus ride, dressed in black attire with a patterned brown scarf around her neck.

The Palestinian Press Agency (Safa News Agency) reported that the strike occurred before 10:51 a.m. by an Israeli aircraft. All sources that identified a belligerent pointed to the Israeli military as the entity responsible for the strike. WAFA News Agency and Hani al-Shaer stated in Facebook posts that the family was killed as a result of a strike against “a group of citizens.” Facebook user Hossam Youssef additionally posted a photograph of the bombed area, depicting three white body bags within a crowd of people alongside three backpacks.

All sources placed the alleged Israeli strike outside of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in North Gaza. Rami Abu Hamza and Hani al-Shaer further specified in their Facebook posts that the strike impacted the area outside the western gate of the Kamal Adwan Hospital.
