Airwars Assessment
On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, an alleged Israeli airstrike killed one civilian, 32-year-old man Muhammad Abd al-Salam Mahmoud Abu Ubadah, when it struck the Al-Attar area in the southern Gaza Strip. There is no information about other civilian casualties or infrastructural damage in the area.
The name of the victim has been matched with the eighth “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza”, which was released on March 24, 2025. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released a number of lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared.
Friends and family of the victim posted their condolences online “with more sadness and more pain” after learning about his death. Jehad Eyada shared: “…Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds. The martyrdom of our dear nephew, Muhammad Abd al-Salam Abu Ayyadah (al-Saqr)…” Similarly, Ahmed Abu Amra added: “The martyrdom of our neighbor and friend…Muhammad Abdul Salam Abu Ayyadah (Al-Saqr). May God have mercy on him and grant him a place in His spacious gardens…”
Well-wishers also shared photos of Muhammad, showing a young man with short black hair and a beard. In their messages, friends and family described Muhammad as a polite and friendly man. He was, Ahmad raafat remembered, “beloved.”
While there is limited news coverage about this incident, Mohammad Abu Ayadeh, a cousin of the deceased, added that Muhammad Abdul Salam Abu Ayyadah al-Saqr died in an airstrike in the Al-Attar area. He was survived by his wife.
Although no sources explicitly mention the Israeli military as a belligerent, the name of the victim was found on the Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities, which explicitly mentions the deaths resulting from Israeli action.
