Airwars Assessment

Last Updated: December 19, 2025

On 18 March 2025, four members of the Abu Madi family, including three young women, were reportedly killed when an Israeli airstrike allegedly struck the family home on al-Samsama Street in west Khan Yunis.

The four family members reportedly killed in the attack were: 65-year-old Muhammad Mahmoud Muhammad Abu Madi, his two daughters, 29-year-old Marwa Muhammad Mahmoud Abu Madi and 32-year-old Fatima Muhammad Mahmoud Abu Madi, and their cousin, 25-year-old Duha Atiya Madi Abu Madi.

Where possible, the names of the victims have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released a number of lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the eighth “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza”, which was released on March 24, 2025.

The victims, with the exception of Marwa, were also listed on the website “Genocide in Gaza”, but the ages indicated were different from those in the Ministry of Health list. Muhammad’s age was recorded as 66, Fatima’s as 27, and Doha’s as 26.

Their deaths were also reported via Facebook posts from family and friends. For example, Maryam Atiyeh posted a message in mourning of her “beloved sister” Doha and her cousins and uncle. Meanwhile, the account Khalid bin al-waleed elementary school Khan Younis, on Facebook posted in mourning of Fatima, who was, according to the account, a teacher at the elementary school. The note offered the condolences of the school and the teaching staff to Fatima and her family.

A post from Genocide in Gaza alleged that the family was killed as a result of an Israeli aircraft attack on their home, for which they had not received prior warning. A video shared from the scene shows a large area completely covered in rubble and buildings partially collapsed.

Although the local sources did not attribute the death of Muhammad to any belligerent, his name was found on both the Ministry of Health list and on the Genocide in Gaza website, which list the fatalities resulting from the Israeli action. Therefore, Airwars has graded the strike status of the incident as “likely” and the civilian harm status as “fair.”
