On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, 5-year-old Ghina Issa Mohammed Abu Obidallah, was killed as a result of an alleged Israeli bombardment on Rafah in the Gaza Strip.

While there are limited news sources reporting on this incident, friends and family shared their messages of condolence online. Issa Abu Obidallah, likely a family member and possibly Ghina’s father, referred to her as the “apple of his eye,” sharing, “O Allah, reward us for our affliction and replace it with something better. To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return… And Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs. O Allah, make her a bridge for us to enter Paradise.”

A family friend, Al Aqeed Ahmed Talal Al Hams, also mourned the “martyrdom of the daughter of our dear friend,” asking that “the Almighty […] have mercy on the martyr and to grant her a place in His spacious gardens” and “inspire her family with beautiful patience and the best consolation.”

Although the time and nature of the strike is unknown, sources suggest that Ghina was one of the many victims brought to European Gaza Hospital, east of Khan Younis. According to Shireen Monitor, Ghina was from the Deir al-Balah Governorate.

Ghina’s name has been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the eighth list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the first ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on March 24, 2025.
