Airwars Assessment
On the night of Tuesday, March 18, 2025, an alleged Israeli strike struck the Abu al-Rous family house in Deir al-Balah, killing a woman, Sabreen Imad Siam (32 years old), her children, Suwar Basil Abu al-Rous (nine years old), and Maryam Basil Abu al-Rous (four years old). The incident also resulted in injuries to Sabreen’s husband, Basil Mohammad Abu al-Rous and his daughter, Joan Basil Abu al-Rous.
A relative of the family, Mahmoud Abu al-Rous, shared the news about the incident on Facebook: “The Abu al-Rous family mourns tonight’s martyrs. Martyr: Sabreen Imad Siam, wife of Basil Muhammad Abu al-Rous. Child martyr: Suwar Basil Abu al-Rous. Child martyr: Maryam Basil Abu al-Rous. We ask you to pray for the child, Joan Basil, and her father, Basil Muhammad, for a speedy recovery…”
While there is limited news reporting on this incident, social media users add that the Abu al-Rous family house was located behind Al-Basheer Mosque in the Al-Jami’ area of Deir al-Balah. There is no additional information available about the type of strike.
All names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the eighth ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on March 24, 2025.
While none of the sources explicitly identified the Israeli military as responsible for the attack, the repeated use of “targeted” by local sources and the inclusion of the names of both killed victims in the Palestinian Ministry of Health list, which explicitly references “Israeli actions”, suggests that this incident has been graded as a “likely strike”.
