On Monday, 05 May 2025, at least one civilian was killed and at least 4 civilians were injured by a declared Israeli airstrike on the al-Hudaydah Seaport in the al-Hudaydah governorate, Yemen.

An initial report by TV Al-Masirah quoted the Yemeni Ministry of Health that stated a civilian had been killed, and four others had been injured as a result of the Israeli strikes on the Hudaydah port.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced the strike on Telegram at 9:10pm, writing “A short while ago, IAF fighter jets struck terror targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime, along Yemen’s coastline….The terrorist infrastructure sites struck in the Hudaydah port serve as a central supply source for the Houthi terrorist regime. The Hudaydah Port is used for the transfer of Iranian weapons, military equipment, and other equipment intended for terrorist purposes.”

TNA24 news quoted an Israeli official that announced that Israeli forces dropped “approximately 48-50 bombs…on the port of al-Hudaydah, completely destroying it.” Aawsat News stated that the strikes were carried out “as part of an operation carried out in coordination with the US.”

A video shared by Yemen Monitor on Twitter X showed a crowd of people gathered on the streets watching the strike from the distance in darkness, the massive explosions from the port illuminating the night sky. Other users shared footage and images of the strike from various angles, children screaming in fear can be heard in the background of many of them.

Twitter/X user @abasetq shared a sordid image of the aftermath of the strike, showing what little was left of the once large port, with the caption “the port of Hudaydah after its complete destruction.”

Sources did not provide names or details of those killed or injured in the strike.

Israeli Military Strike Report
IDF: A short while ago, IAF fighter jets struck terror targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime, along Yemen's coastline. The strike was conducted in response to the repeated attacks by the Houthi terrorist regime against the State of Israel, during which surface-to-surface missiles and UAVs were launched toward Israeli territory and its civilians. The terrorist infrastructure sites struck in the Hudaydah port serve as a central supply source for the Houthi terrorist regime. The Hudaydah Port is used for the transfer of Iranian weapons, military equipment, and other equipment intended for terrorist purposes. In addition, the IDF struck the "Bajil" Concrete Plant, east of the city of al-Hudaydah, which functions as a significant economic resource for the Houthis. Moreover, it is used for the construction of underground tunnels and terrorist infrastructure for the terrorist regime. This strike further degrades the Houthi regime’s economic and military buildup capabilities. Over the past year and a half, the Houthi terrorist regime has been operating under Iranian direction and funding, in order to target the State of Israel and its allies, undermine regional stability, and disrupt global freedom of navigation. The IDF is determined to continue operating, at any distance, against all threats posed to the citizens of the State of Israel.
