Airwars Assessment
On December 5th, 2024, an alleged Israeli airstrike hit a house in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza Strip. The strike reportedly killed seven civilians and led to an unspecified number of injuries.
One of the affected structures was identified as the home of the Muhsin family, and was reported to be hosting displaced persons at the time of the strike. As such, most of the deceased were members of the extended Muhsin family. Among those killed were several fathers alongside their sons. 54-year-old Majdi Muhsin “Abu Ghassan” was killed with his son 21-year-old Youssef Magdi Muhsin. Father 45-year-old Ibrahim Muhsin “Abu Ismail” and his son 17-year-old Hamza Ibrahim Muhsin were also reported killed, as were father 39-year-old Yahya Muhsin “Abu Muadh” and his son Moaz Yahya Muhsin. Raafat Abdel Gawad was also reported killed.
The incident’s impact was further documented on social media. Family members and other accounts shared numerous photos commemorating the individuals who were killed, offering prayers and asking that god “have mercy on them and forgive them.” Ahmed Raed remembered his “beloved brother [and] friend” Yahya Muhsin, sharing a photograph of Yahya sporting a striped shirt, sitting in a car. Ahmad Ghandour similarly grieved his “sister’s husband” Raafat, including a photograph of Raafat clad in a black jacket.
Other sources, deeming the photographs “horrific,” also included documentation showing rubble and smoke in the vicinity of the hospital, consistent with the reported airstrike. Example photographs from Facebook user Kangmas Mujahidin demonstrated the extent of said horror: bodies strewn across rubble.
Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the ninth ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on June 23, 2025. Additional ages of victims have been found by cross-checking names against lists of fatalities shared online by Genocide in Gaza, which has a list of “martyrs” of Israeli forces.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to the Israeli military.
