On Friday, 16 May 2025, at least one civilian was killed, and at least six civilians were injured, by a declared Israeli airstrike on the Al-Hudaydah Port in Al-Hudaydah Governorate, Yemen.

The IDF published on the official Telegram account at 6:34pm that “A short while ago, the IDF struck and dismantled terrorist infrastructure sites belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime in the Al-Hudaydah and Salif Ports in Yemen. These ports are used to transfer weapons and are a further example of the Houthi terrorist regime’s systematic and cynical exploitation of civilian infrastructure in order to advance terrorist activities. The strikes were conducted after numerous advanced warnings issued by the IDF to the population in the area in order to mitigate the risk of harm to civilian population in the areas of these sites. Any hostile activity in these ports will continue to be prevented.”

Initial reports from Saba News Yemen quoted the Yemeni Ministry of Health and Environment, which declared in a statement that according to preliminary tolls, six civilians had been injured due to the Israeli strike on the Port of Al-Hudaydah. The Ministry condemned the strike as “a full-fledged war crime that violates all international and humanitarian laws, norms and conventions.”

Facebook user Muhammad al-Ghazali posted the name of a civilian that had been killed in the strike, Hani Hamid, and shared an image of Hani – a smiling, cheerful man with a beard.

Twitter/X user @naeeemali172343 posted that “Israel has turned the Port of Al-Hudaydah into a ruin”, sharing images of the damage done to the port and the boats and ships docked there. Other sources on social media shared more images showing the debris and wreckage caused by the Israeli strike on the port.

The December 2 News Agency reported that “in conjunction with” the Israeli strike on the port, Houthi militia prevented four cargo ships from sailing in order to wait for favorable weather conditions, “despite the damage to the docks of the port as a result of the” strike.

Israeli Military Strike Report
IDF: A short while ago, the IDF struck and dismantled terrorist infrastructure sites belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime in the Hudaydah and Salif Ports in Yemen. These ports are used to transfer weapons and are a further example of the Houthi terrorist regime's systematic and cynical exploitation of civilian infrastructure in order to advance terrorist activities. The strikes were conducted after numerous advanced warnings issued by the IDF to the population in the area in order to mitigate the risk of harm to civilian population in the areas of these sites. Any hostile activity in these ports will continue to be prevented. Over the past year and a half, the Houthi terrorist regime has been operating under Iranian direction and funding in order to harm the State of Israel and its allies, undermining regional stability and disrupting global freedom of navigation. In light of the Houthi terrorist regime's use of these ports for terrorist activity, the IDF continues to warn individuals in the area of the ports to evacuate. The IDF is determined to continue to operate against threats posed to Israeli civilians, at any distance required.
