Airwars Assessment
On June 10th, 2025, an alleged Israeli attack near the American-run Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s humanitarian aid distribution center west of Rafah City, in southern Gaza killed at least eight civilians, including two children, with some sources reporting up to 14 fatalities. An unspecified number were injured.
Local media outlets initially reported lower casualty figures. Safa News first reported the death of three civilians, identifying them as 28-year-old Ibrahim Sabry Ibrahim Abu Mustafa, 16/17-year-old Muhannad Hussam Fayez Abu Alian, and 55/56-year-old Issa Fayed Hassan Fayed. However, additional lists later circulated naming up to eight individuals reportedly killed in the same incident. These included: 14-year-old Omar Youssef Abdullah Abu Amra, 45/46-year-old Mahmoud Othman Abdel Salam al-Qassas, 32-year-old Raed Mohammed Hamad Abu Radwan, 32/33-year-old Faris Walid Abdul Aziz Abu Labda, and Ahmed al-Jarmi.
Further reports from Aljazeera Arabic indicated that as many as 14 people may have been killed near the aid center. Sources were vague regarding specific injuries, reporting only that “people were injured.” These casualties stemmed from “Israeli army bullets,” according to Facebook user “News source”.
Several tributes were posted online by family members and local organizations. The Diwan of the Al-Abu Labda family described Faris Walid Abu Labda as “a martyr for his livelihood.” In the case of Omar Youssef Abdullah Abu Amra, a local community post noted that his mother belongs to the Abu Tayr family and called for prayers for his soul. Relatives of Mahmoud Othman Abdel Salam al-Qassas also expressed grief online, with one cousin referring to him as “our dear cousin” and praying for mercy and forgiveness.
Others expressed condolences for surviving family members, with the General Union of Palestinian Students offering support to their peer Taha Fayed on the death of his father, Issa: “With deep sorrow and sadness and with hearts that believe in God’s will and destiny, the General Union of Palestinian Students, Skikda Unit, offers its deepest condolences and sympathy to our brother and Palestinian student Taha Fayed on the martyrdom of his father Issa Fayed Hassan.”
Mourners also shared photographs on social media. Muhannad Abu Alian is seen in a selfie photograph shared by Eastern Pulse. This same user shared a photograph of Raed Abu Radwan in a checked cap and grey jacket, while “New for you” shared a professional photograph of Raed embracing a young boy, likely his son. Mahmoud Othman Abdel Salam Al-Qassas was memorialised in a photograph shared by Rami Al Gassas wearing a black jacket and keffiyeh.
Video footage circulating on social media, including footage posted by local activists and Hamas-affiliated channels, showed scenes of the aftermath, including casualties lying on the ground and civilians attempting to assist the wounded. Hamas accused the Israeli military of turning aid centers into “death traps” and committing “systematic killings under a false humanitarian cover.”
Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the tenth ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on July 16, 2025.
