At least 17 civilians, including three children, were killed while seeking aid at the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) location in the Al-Shakoush area east of Rafah, Gaza on June 11, 2025.

Khalaf al-Qatea posted a list of “Martyrs near aid centers in the city of Rafah, southern Gaza Strip”: 18-year-old Khaled Mahmoud Othman al-Majayda, 21-year-old Yousef Mohammed Farah al-Najjar, 27-year-old Tariq Samir Abdel Hadi al-Tahrawi, 39-year-old Ihab Yousef Jumaa al-Salut, 33-year-old Rashad Atta Mahmoud al-Qassas, 15-year-old Yazan Mohammed Atish Abu Amra, 32-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed Ahmed Lafi, 47-year-old Rafiq Mohammed Jabr Tayeh, 28-year-old Ibrahim Asaad Suleiman Brika, 44-year-old Mohammed Talat Mohammed Abu Salima, 43-year-old Rifaat Shaaban Awad al-Bashhiqi, 15-year-old Ghazal Iyad Ismail al-Farmawi, 15-year-old Mohammed Hussam Mohammed al-Abed, 37-year-old Mahmoud Ahmed Suleiman al-Sadoudi, 49-year-old Mohammed Shehdeh Mohammed Salha, 24-year-old Uday Mohammed Bakr al-Siqali, and 20-year-old Mahmoud Salah Abu Ghoula. 

According to Safa News, at least five of the victims’ bodies were taken to Nasser Medical Complex while Abu Ahmed Faraj Allah quoted a source at Nasser who reported “14 martyrs by the fire of the [Israeli] army near the aid centers.” A Twitter/X post from HamlaKaddour included a photo collage of nine of the victims, eight men and one child. A family member of one of the victims, Umm Jamal al-Tahrawi, wrote that 31 people had been killed in the attack.

Journalist Amr Tabash spoke with Safaa al-Farmawi, mother of seven including Ghazal al-Farmawi, who described the experience of losing her eldest daughter while trying to seek aid, saying “She was killed while going there – she was shot in the head and the bullet went all the way through her skull.” Because of the danger at aid sites, Safaa said that “I’m going to sell my daughter’s Eid clothes so I can feed my children.” Ghazal was also mourned by a Facebook post from the profile “The mother of the martyr Ghazal al-Farmawi” – potentially Safaa – who wrote “My beloved daughter, my first joy, the light of my eyes and heart, is a martyr….Ghazal is gone, and with her, laughter and joy are gone.” Ghazal’s 13-year-old sister Jana was injured at an aid site five days before Ghazal was killed. The incident in which Jana was injured is ISPT060625n.

Hani al-Najjar Abu Aouni and Safya al-Najjar prayed for the loss of Yousef al-Najjar, a “martyr of aid” on Facebook posts.

Ameen Abed offered condolences to Khaled al-Majayda’s father and “kind mother” Umm Asaad for the loss of their son who was killed while trying to get food. The Facebook post included an image of a smiling young man sitting in the sand. Mohand Ali al-Majayda also expressed his distress at losing his companion and brother, writing “you made me cry against my will” at his loss and included an image of Khaled smiling in a black long-sleeve shirt. Family member Ashraf Nafiz lamented the endless losses to the al-Majayda family, writing that Khaled’s loss was the 45th person from the family to be killed since the beginning of the war.

Umm Jamal al-Tahrawi and other family members mourned the loss of their relative Tariq al-Tahrawi who “did not die on a battlefield, nor did he carry a weapon, but he fell as a martyr in the battle of life. He died hungry while searching for a morsel of bread to feed his family.” The posts included an image of Tariq smiling.

Ihab al-Salut was mourned by his sister’s husband Mohammed A. al-Salut and his neighbor Fares Aldaour who included an image of Ihab posing in front of a car covered in flowers.

Cousin Rami al-Qassas mourned Rashad al-Qassas in a Facebook post and included an image of a baby girl, possibly his daughter. The Za’arab family also offered condolences to the Al-Qassas family for their loss and included another image of Rashad wearing a pastel printed t-shirt in front of street art. Rashad was also described as a “well-mannered young man” by another cousin Nawal Yehia Ferwana who also offered patience to Rashad’s widow Amal al-Bashiti and his father Abu Shadi, both tagged in the post.

“Grief has stolen all joy from my face… And that burning pain that melts my heart remains with me whenever I remember that you sleep beneath the earth, my brother” were the words of Munib Lafi in describing the pain of losing her brother Ibrahim Lafi, who was also mourned by neighbors and other family members.

Om Momen Ghrayeb announced the news of the death of Rafiq Tayeh, who was “the best kind and compassionate father” according to relative Wissam al-Sinwar. While Om Momen Ghrayeb described Rafiq as an “honorable, hard worker” (المكافح). The term can also be translated figuratively to mean “fighter,” but is generally not evoked in a militant context. As there is no other indication that Rafiq was a militant he has been counted as a civilian. This will be updated should additional information become available.

Mahmoud al-Sadoudi was mourned by relatives Hisham Abu Yusuf and Ahmed al-Sadoudi, one of whom mourned Mahmoud, addressing him: “You lived in poverty all your life and were helpful to everyone.” The post included an image of Mahmoud sitting among bushes.

A sibling of Mahmoud Salah Abu Ghoula wrote about the tragedy of losing their brother: “The light is gone, and half of my heart is gone with him… My brother Mahmoud, the one who used to laugh and make the world laugh, the one from whom we knew nothing but goodness, chivalry, and love for everyone. Twenty years, my soul, but he lived a lifetime of manhood and kindness. He was beloved… and everyone loved him. He was the support, the security, and the laughter that comforted the heart.” The post included an image of young Mahmoud sitting in front of a yellow flower centrepiece.

Uday al-Siqali was described by loved ones as a “martyr of livelihood” (شهيد لقمة العيش) a term used to describe those killed at the GHF aid distribution sites. The post included two images of Uday, one showing a close-up photo of him wearing headphones, and another showing Uday posing on a motorcycle in front of an “I love Gaza” sign.

Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the tenth ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on July 17, 2025. The age of another victim has been found by cross-checking names against lists of fatalities shared online by Shireen Monitor, an organisation which has a list of “Martyrs of Palestine” from 2023 onward.

Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to the Israeli military.
