Airwars Assessment
(Previous Incident Code: DEBREG250614a )
Around 8 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, 14 June 2025, at least three civilians, a father and his two adult sons, were injured in their home located at the al-Adayat roundabout in the Aydoun area in the city of Irbid, Jordan, by falling shrapnel from a missile or drone by an unknown belligerent.
From various source descriptions and images, the “unknown object” that crashed into the home of Ghalib Al-Raba’a is highly likely to be shrapnel from a missile. Based on the available images of munitions provided by the sources, Airwars researchers identified them on the OSMP portal as AGM-114 Hellfire missile remnants allegedly used by the Jordanian military to intercept an Iranian drone. Therefore, the incident has been graded as contested between the Jordanian military and the Iranian military.
Jordan’s Public Security Directorate announced that “an unknown object” fell on a house in the city of Irbid, injuring three people. The injured were administered first aid before being transferred to a hospital “where their general condition was described as good.” Member of Parliament Basem Rawabdeh visited the injured – Mr. Ghalib Al-Rababa’a and his two sons, who were being treated at the Prince Rashid Hospital in Irbid. He stated that their home at the Al-Adayat roundabout in Aydoun, Irbid, was struck by shrapnel.
On Facebook, Hayat FM published an interview with Ghalib Al-Rababa’a taken in a hospital. Ghalib, a middle-aged man with grey hair and a grey beard dressed in a green shirt, told the reporter the following:
“I am one of those who were hit by a rocket or shrapnel from the rocket that fell on Saturday at 8:30 in the morning. I was sleeping in my house when I woke up and saw that glass, stones, and dust had entered through the window. There was a lot of noise outside, and the neighborhood was dark. I expected that I would be the least affected and I thought that the entire building had been destroyed, but I was the most affected psychologically and physically. I was not harmed much because the armed forces came and repaired everything, and I am in Prince Rashid Hospital. Everyone did their duty in the hospital, from the hospital director to all the cadres, and everything was perfect. They now wanted to take me out of the hospital, so I told them that I still feel pain in my head and neck and ringing in my ears, so I wish I could stay in the hospital.”
Facebook account of Zarqa News also corroborated this information, writing, “A painful incident shook our hearts this morning after a rocket fell on a house in the city of Irbid, resulting in injuries among the residents. We ask God for a speedy recovery for the injured, and safety for our people everywhere. O God, protect Jordan and its people.”
Users and pages on social media, including Khaled Slaeem and Judita News, shared images of the injured receiving treatment, lying in beds at the hospital – one of them appears to have injured his neck.
Additionally, Judita News shared images of the debris, and a heavily damaged bedroom. Multiple large holes can be seen in the walls caused by the falling shrapnel, indicative of its sheer force of impact.
According to Aawsat News, the directorate also confirmed that specialized teams from the Jordanian Armed Forces and the Public Security Directorate have begun investigating” the incident. Al-Haq News additionally reported that the Directorate also confirmed the fall of shrapnel “in a number of regions of the kingdom [of Jordan]”, with no injuries being reported in those regions.
Aawsat reported that the incident occurred on the same day that Jordanian authorities reportedly reopened their airspace after closing it the previous day for fear of missiles or drones falling amid the Israel-Iran conflict.
Judita News posted that Ghalib Al-Raba’a and his sons were injured when an “explosive object” hit their home. Meanwhile, Twitter/X user @ALI_M2025 shared a video showing the damaged exterior of the building and the surrounding area, captioned “Damage to homes surrounding the house hit by the missile in the Idun area of Irbid Governorate.” Additionally, Hebron 2 News stated that the house was hit by what they termed “aircraft fragments”, which also damaged six other buildings in the area. Zarqa News reported that it was “a rocket” that fell on the house in Irbid causing injuries, while Al Arabiya termed it “a flying object.”
Twitter/X user @Mohammed4_s1 shared a video of burning wreckage on the ground at night time, purportedly footage of the remnants of an Iranian drone shot down in Irbid by Jordanian forces.
