Safa News reported that emergency and ambulance services had recovered two civilians who had been killed after a an aid security group near Andalus tower was hit by an Israeli airstrike. Talal Abu Hussein, via Facebook, echoed this report, referring to those killed as “aid security personnel”. Al-Quds Channel also reported that al-Shifa Hospital received two dead civilians in the aftermath of the attack on aid workers in al-Karama. According to Amjaad News Agency, a number of people had gathered in the area who were all hungry and trying to access aid. The source reported that the aid security personnel were attempting to organise these civilians and to prevent disorder amongst the crowd when the attack occurred.
Airwars understands that this security function is not connected to a militant or armed group, but rather a function of the humanitarian delivery mechanisms.
Other sources, via Facebook, reported differing death tolls. Diaa Abu Aoun claimed that over 25 people were killed and taken to Sheikh Radwan Clinic and al-Shifa Hospital after the attack on those who had been waiting to receive aid at the Zikim axis. Diaa reported that four security personnel were killed in the attack, alongside children.
