Airwars Assessment
On Thursday, August 14, 2025, an alleged Israeli bombardment and/or sniper fire hit the Kosefim (also mentioned as Kofum and Ksevim by the sources) crossing, east of Deir al-Balah city in the Gaza Strip, where some aid workers were securing aid while people were waiting for it. At least one person was killed and two others were injured.
Local sources named 25-year-old Ayman Yahya Abu Mughsib, a member of the Palestinian cycling team, as one of the victims killed in the attack and that his body was brought to al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. Among the injured were two young men from the Abu Mughsib family, who were reportedly wounded by a sniper. Multiple sources indicate that Ayman and the other young men were working in aid security when they were injured. While the sources indicated that injuries were inflicted by sniper fire, sources also mentioned “bombardment” with regard to Ayman, so it is not clear whether he died from a separate airstrike, artillery shelling, or from the same sniper fire that reportedly injured the men from the Abu Mughsib family. Airwars will update the incident should new information become available.
@Sa7atPlBreaking reported the incident at 11:56 p.m., reporting injuries and marking the information as “urgent.” News agency @Qudsn_Brk reported the arrival of Ayman’s body to al-Aqsa at 10:44 p.m.
Family and friends took to social media to express their grief and mourn the loss of the young man.
Kamel Mastor bid farewell to him, sharing his picture with a heart emoji on it. In it, he was wearing a big khaki hat, looking tired. Meanwhile, Naji Abu Mughsib wrote that he had known nothing but goodness from him and could personally bear witness to his kind character.
Hussein al-Saidi shared a photo of them cycling together, writing with deep sadness about the loss of his friend and brother. In his message, he prayed for God’s mercy on him, strength for his family and ended by saying that “to God we belong and to Him we shall return”.
Along with the photos of him cycling, there is also a video of his funeral, where a crowd of young men carried his body through the street.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to Israeli forces.
