A young man was reportedly shot in the chest by Israeli army fire near the Al-Iqlimiya area of Khan Younis on 9 June 2025. The victim, 19-year-old Abdul Razzaq Ahmed Qishta, later succumbed to his wounds and died on 25 June 2025.

The incident was first reported on the day of the shooting by his brother, freelance journalist Muhannad Qishta, who described Abdul’s condition as “critical” and asked friends to “pray for his speedy recovery.” Muhannad returned to Facebook two weeks later to report his brother’s death, sharing the image of his dead body.

Family members posted tributes online mourning the death of the young man. For many, religious faith provided a framework for understanding the loss. Tamer Qishta, a cousin, asked that Abdul be purified in death: “We ask God to accept him among the martyrs and to cleanse him with water, snow, and hail,” while cousin Ahmad Keshta prayed that Abdul be accepted “into the highest heavens.”

Video shared from his funeral showed mourners gathering around his body as relatives offered final words of farewell.

Source Mohamed Awad alleged that Abdul had been killed near a U.S. aid distribution site northwest of Rafah. All other sources, however, including Abdul’s brother, stated that he had been killed in Khan Younis’ Al-Iqlimiya area.

Where possible, the name of the victim has been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released a number of lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. In regard to this incident, the name was matched to the tenth “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza”, which was released on July 16, 2025.

Where sources identified the belligerent, all attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
