Airwars Assessment
On the afternoon of Sunday, June 15, 2025, an alleged Israeli airstrike struck the headquarters of the Tehran Police Command (also known as FARAJA), injuring several officers and causing damage to buildings around the complex, according to official statements released by the police.
In a statement, the Tehran Police Command confirmed that its headquarters had been targeted by what it described as “micro-aircraft” or small projectiles. The Police Command said that “a few” of their forces were injured during the attack, while characterising the structural damage to the building as “minor.”
The exact number of wounded and the severity of their injuries were not disclosed. However, a photo published by local media bazentekhabat and credited to photographer Majid Ghazipour showed at least one injured man officer sat on a wheelchair in a hospital, with heavy bandages wrapped around his head, face, and both hands.
Faraja, the Police Command of Iran, later stated that in addition to the main headquarters, several surrounding buildings were also hit.
In subsequent reports by Iranian news agencies and local media outlets, police officials described the attack as part of what they called continued “aggressions” against security institutions in Tehran and that further details would be released at a later time.
Under International Humanitarian Law, civilians are protected against attack “unless and for such time as” they directly participate in hostilities. As such, Airwars has classified individuals working as police officers civilians, unless local sources reported that the individual was directly participating in hostilities, in which case Airwars has classified them as a militant. As no sources reported that those harmed in this incident were participating in hostilities, those harmed have been recorded a civilians. This will be updated should additional information become available.
All sources identifying a belligerent attributed the attack on the Tehran Police Headquarters to Israeli military forces.
