Airwars Assessment
On the evening of Sunday, June 15, 2025, a 31-year-old woman named Sarvenaz Vaezzadeh was killed in an alleged Israeli airstrike on a residential building located on 5th Street, near Sohrevardi (Sohrudi) Metro Station in Tehran, Iran.
The day of the alleged strike, Iran International news outlet shared video clips of a burning building which had purportedly been damaged when “Israeli fighter jets targeted an apartment unit on Fifth Street, near Tehran’s Sohrudi Metro Station.” According to both Mehr News Agency and Hamshahri Online, Sarvenaz had gone to visit a friend that evening, and “when they heard the sound of the missile, they wanted to escape from the house, but the rubble of the building did not allow them to do so and the roof collapsed on their heads.”
In the aftermath of the alleged bombing, loved ones began mourning the death of Sarvenaz Vaezzadeh online. User @یکتانت /yektanet posted a black and white photo of the young woman on Instagram, writing that “With a sad and disbelieving heart, we mourn the passing of our dear colleague and friend Sarvnaz Vaezzadeh.” On Twitter/X, @merayraa shared a smiling photo of Sarvenaz twirling a colorful skirt and wrote “My beautiful friend, it’s hard for me to believe that I won’t see you again. Unfortunately, my friend and colleague passed away on Sunday following the deadly Israeli attacks in the Sohrawardi area of Tehran.” The user also “curse[d] the Islamic Republic that took our beloved from us.”
In a July 20 report by Mehr News Agency, Sarvenaz’s father explained that “she was supposed to go home in a few months in a wedding dress, but she went to meet God in a white dress.” He also described his daughter as “extremely active, hardworking and independent, who planned a lot to achieve her goals.” In another interview with Hamshari Online, he talked about how Sarvenaz “was not just a daughter, she was my soulmate; just like two old friends who don’t hide anything from each other. She would call me maybe 20 times a day, 20 times to her mother. She would describe everything from the most minor everyday issues to her great career successes with passion and joy…she had a strong and effective presence in every group she entered.”
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to Israeli forces.
